Is there a wheel well size difference between the 148 and 130?

As far as I know, it's the same for 130, 148 and 148el.

It's possible the 150, 250 and 350 could have different suspension height, but that would not affect what size tire fits; the tight spots are fore and aft, not above.

An extended van doesn’t seem to have the tight fit that that short versions have. Not the wheel well “size” but the space from the spare wheel well to the rear diff cover.

I am speaking only to the spare tire fit which is different than the wheel well fit. In that context, the van length is relevant.

This pic shows how much pinch weld (and plastic) has to be trimmed for BFG KO2's 245/75r16 tires.

Passenger side front tire, rear section needed most trimming.

Rear tires clear no problem. No trimming at all.

After reading to many post on tire I pulled the trigger on Michelin 245-75-16 Defenders, My rims are factory spec with the silver cover, side note the tires looked huge without the silver plate cover, essentially all black. No trim was required but I decided to fold the pinch weld back on the frontend and took about 1/4 inch off the plastic bumper.

Ride was less noise, more smooth and a little more shifting than factory spec. I ran a Data logger and a GPS to check the MPH and Odometer. My best guess is the Odom and MPH are understated by about 8-9% based on the Datalogger and GPS.

Overall very pleased with ride quality, we had wind gust today 30-40 mph and the bigger tires definately tracked better.

Aha! That's to be expected; more room for the spare in the extended 148.

Just wanted to add that the ko2 255/70/16 did not fit in the spare mount on mine..at least like it should. Even after deflating to 25 psi, I could not get it to fit in the recessed area without rubbing rear diff. So I had to have at a slight angle and use strap to keep off differential. Oh and I do not have the extended length.

Need to add 245/70/16. On another post the owner said no modifications and it fits in the spare tire well.

I have four used with 8,000 miles waiting to be installed as soon as I get to 30,000 miles. Will buy one new one because I rotate all 5 every 7500 miles. Hard for me to remove the OEM Hankooks before I wear them out. I would probably get 50,000 miles out of them.

I think the one I have with 17" rims is a typo, I'll correct that to read 245/70-16

(I'm at 52k on OEM Hankooks, I'll get at least 60k out of them)

who makes this tire with an E rating...245/70-16? I think the previously mentioned tire was on closeout. Sorry if I am mistaken, been reading too many tire posts trying to decide.

I recently upgraded to the ko2’s make you a good deal on my factory rims and tires still mounted with the tpms. Indianapolis area
Thank y’all for all feedback on the sizes that work!!
The tires and wheels look good.
What happened to the wheel well molding at the front right corner? Is molding missing on the front left corner also?

It’s back on now. Both sides. I broke the clips removing to install bumper. Here is a b4 upgrades pic. The rims and tires really make it look like the adventure vehicle it is.

So people searching for the list of tire sizes don't have to read page after page of "here's my van and what I did" stories, please post them to one of the Larger Tires threads instead. If the tire size you're using is already on the list, there's no need to add a post saying you used it.

If you put on a tire that isn't on the list, please share the info!

Maybe I should have the list as a sticky First Post on the first page. I'm trying to do this as a handy reference for people seeking info, not as an endless discussion or show-and-tell. There are already a dozen tire threads for that.

thanks!:)

Old: Cooper Discoverer AT3. New: Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT. yes, on new version, the “LT” is part of the model name....not just the size

I wish 3 things:

1) Someone could review the new version as compared to the old version.
2) Cooper would make an HT version load E
3) Michelin would make a load E version of their LTX MS2 or LTX AT in that size/load rating

Thanks for the post. A year ago I bought four Cooper 245/70/16 E rated tires with 8,000 miles on them for $400. Being cheap I wanted to use up more of the original tires before replacing the tires with the Coopers. Your post triggered a bit of panic about not being able to buy a fifth matching tire for my 5 tire rotation. Local tire shop was able to find a matching tire today. He found it in Florida so it is being shipped to Ca. Paid $237.00 for the tire.

Will change the tires soon at 30,000 miles. I do a 5 tire rotation every 7500 miles.

Believe the tires will fit on stock steel wheels without any body modifications and will fit in the spare tire well. Will know in a couple of months for sure.
