My van did not have a USB jack there, only the audio input jack.

I installed a 12 volt meter / twin 5v receptacle in that spot
I also have several of the 12 volt to 5 volt plug ins shown in my picture below

I installed 7 x 12 volt receptacles in the back
I can use 12 volt items or plug in one of those 12 volt to 5 volt things
Since I have a mixture of both types of devices, the 12 volt receptacles were the way to go

I got the meter and the 12v adapters on Amazon cheap.

The 5 volt plug in the pic goes up to my phone that is in the goofy little slot to the right of the steering wheel

has anyone installed a usb charger plug or plugs up near the rear a/c controls and upper center light console area? i have found that the gps, phone and other electronics get really hot from the heat generated from the windshield. have thought of installing up there and thus being able to mount devices on flipped down visor with cords out of the way.
thanks

How did you connect the 7 x 12 volt receptacles in back? Thanks

The inside area behind the drivers seats is on a completely different circuit and battery than the front starter battery system
I have a AGM battery in back, 200 watts of solar on the roof and a separate fuse panel

So everything is wired into the AGM battery/fuse panel in my van.

Here's a diagram
