It's possible because anything us possible but there is stuff back there. A blank panel would be easier.

I use a dual plug in quick charge in the accessory outlet instead of permanently taking out the accessory plug because I might need it for something else.

You can get a panel mount outlet or even better a quick charge plug and two female usb panel ports and wire them up inside the dash.

I would leave the USB port that connects to your stereo in place but add separate USB charging ports.

My USB hole was empty since I have a basic radio, so I drilled it out with a hole saw, cleaned up the tabs on the back, and added a dual USB charging port tapped from the lower 12v plug there. It worked out so well that I added a bunch more around the van.

Here's a photo of it, other pics in my Garage images.

I may go with the dual plug in the lighter route. Somehow a penny made its way into the plug and now it is not getting power. I changed out fuse #47 but that was not the culprit. Anyone know what fuse that is?

A key reason why I left the bottom outlet as-is with its cover, also the same for the outlet behind the sliding door. Even a USB plug can get debris in it.

Each 12v socket is on its own 20a fuse, I believe the lower front one is 49.

Thanks. I will pull that one and check it out. On the subject of pulling fuses. These sure are not the easiest to get out as they are flush with the holder.

This is not regarding the center cup holders but the outer one on the passenger side in front of the side mirror.
It obstructs my view of the side mirror even empty.
Can anyone tell me how to remove it? I will duct tape over it if I have to once removed, but I can't find clips anywhere to release it and don't want to damage the plastic.
I cannot see half of the lower mirror because of the cup holder jutting out in the way.
Thanks!

Joined for this thread. Staying because I recently bought a 15 passenger 2016 Transit. Everything is great but I did notice there is no USB port in the square hole. Would anyone have a good step by step installation?

The USB port hole is only used for Transits equipped with radios that use one. I drilled the space out with a hole saw on mine and added a dual USB charging outlet.

I installed a Pioneer head unit and cut an opening for the USB port next to the factory AUX port (after picture).

That's exactly where I put mine.

For those wondering, this is a pre-wired extension that plugs into the rear USB port on your aftermarket radio, and the 1/8 TRS to the input, or splice it to match whatever input you may have, like RCA. I bought mine on ebay for around $10. You simple drill the correct size hole and then fasten the extension port with it's included nut in the rear. Running the wire is the most complicated part. (I didn't tear my dash apart like Ghostshaper, I just popped the little cover of and used a wire to pull the cables through to the radio)
