Access body control module & fuses

Oh, how I hate the search function of this site! And, I came up empty on Google and Youtube.

Need to access the BCM fuse panel under the driver side dash. Can't be sure how that panel comes off. It does not help that the owner manual indicates non-detailed removal of the left bottle holder panel, which, I'm pretty sure, is not correct.

Was driving down the road today, and a warning message came on about the rear parking aid needing service. My first thought was that someone had tagged my rear bumper when parking behind me. That turned out not to be the case. Sure enough, the reverse proximity beep failed to function when I backed into my home space.

Hoping it may just be blown, bad fuse, or loose fit (fuse F4, for reference). The panel probably just pops off? How to do it without damage?

Is there a post here, somewhere, that goes into accessing all of the fuse panels?

Thanks

Progress, such as it is. I got the right-hand panel off, but, it does not provide enough access to the BCM on the left side. It does appear that the bottle holder panel might come off, after removing 2 Torx screws inside the pull-off cover, in the bottle holder. BUT, what happens with the headlight and mirror adjust control? ... Do they just have long cables? Still hoping to hear details from someone.

I have not gone further with the left panel, since the warning message has gone away, and the backup assist is now working. Maybe it will go another 21 months and 22K miles, without further trouble.

Am including pics to help others with panel removal. You can see the 8 white friction clamps. I started prying at the right hand side. Sounded like something broke as I pulled up the left side, but, everything looks OK.

The Helm Manual (Ford manual really, Helm just prints what Ford gives them), at least mine, is largely a rehash of the European manual with some additions/subtractions for the US variant powertrains. DO NOT TRUST IT IMPLICITLY. There are errors and mis-directions which will royally screw you if you're not paying attention. It is also a pita to find things in. Further, there is what I would charitably term an assumption of knowledge on the part of the technician, and un-charitably term a lot of missing information. It is not a stem to stern complete repair manual by any stretch. For the $ they want I would give it one star out of five. Hunt one down on ebay, Ford/Helm do not deserve what they are asking for the thing. Also, to the point, there is nothing in it on fuses. Not a single word. Fuses are covered in the owners manual.

From Helm's description on their page for the Transit Service Information CD ROM>http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2.asp?Make=FRD&Model=TRNS&Year=&Category=&class_2=FRD&mk=Ford&yr=All+Years&md=Transit&dt=&module=&from=result&Style=helm&Sku=FCS2135216&itemtype=N

"The Electronic Service Information contained on each CD-ROM or DVD provides instant access to Ford Motor Company's latest, most up-to-date manufacturer repair and service information available, including Workshop, Wiring and Powertrain Control/Emmission Diagnosis. Workshop Information: Includes comprehensive instructions, procedures, approved specifications and detailed illustrations. Wiring Information: Includes component locations, circuit descriptions and troubleshooting hints. PC/ED Information: Provides engine diagnostic procedures in conjunction with the workshop and wiring diagram manuals."

So yes the wiring diagrams are included..

Thanks, just ordered it. I was going to ask you a bunch more questions first but ……………. (don't want to be a nuisance) Glad my new HP actually has a drive it I assume it (CD) always has to be resident in the computer (no transferring to the C drive)

I've had no further errors or problems with the reverse sensor. I've buttoned the panel back up. BUT, not before trying to get better access to the left-hand side, if only for future reference, and to report back here. I removed the 2 Torx screws under the cover in the bottle holder, and did some test pulling around the edges. There was no hint that it might come free. UGH, just hope I never have to actually access one of the further (or any) fuses in that Body Control Module.

Has anyone got any advice on removing the lower dash panel that has the headlight switch in it? I have removed the pull off panels and several 7mm head screws but the panel does not want to budge. I'm not sure if the LH cup holder is a part of it or even which way to pull. Don't like prying or using excessive force when I am not sure of how it is attached.
