Ditto, the smaller ones are 6x1mm, and the few larger ones by the back doors on my '15 cargo are 8x1.25mm

I had to chase the paint out of the 6x1mm with a tap before using them.

I'm thinking about buying the (attached picture) rivnut setter. Waiting for an answer from Amazon if the rivets nuts are ( steel, alum, what). The rivet nuts will be for bed and kitchen cabinet mounts. In your opinion, do you think this setter will do? What size rivet nut size would you suggest? Thanks

Some metric and SAE bolts are very close in diameter and pitch, it's probably a 12x1.75mm, but the 7/16-20 is so close that it works. I think Orton mentioned that SAE bolt working, and I was also able to use it in the D-ring threads, too.

"seat belt" threads are SAE 7/16-20tpi due to 1968 vehicle standards. 11mm x 1.75MM is close, but 11mm is not a common bolt size.

I noticed on the rear doors that threaded inset was a 10mm. Otherwise you find 6mm and 8mm all over the place (as mentioned run a thread chaser through those bolt holes to clean out the paint; I make my own thread chasers by taking a bolt and cutting a grove lengthwise with a small triangle file).

There are some unthreaded inserts a few inches up from the floor on the back door surrounds- an inch or so below the large rectangular openings.
They tap perfectly to M12x1.75. I put one of Fords D rings in the right hand side one and a M12x1.75 eye bolt in the other one.
Reason for the eye bolt in the left is because of the A/C box being close. I specifically wanted something that would NOT swivel there.

One of the biggest pains in my wagon is finding good tie down spots. Many of the best ones in a van are covered by the plastic interior in the van. Some like the ones in the back and above the wheel wells are not an issue.
Others are hidden behind a gap of several inches between the steel and plastic. So not easily made usable.

McMaster Carr (USA).

Fastenal is a supplier with stores all over the USA. Just tell them "Cash sale, please add the tax" when asked "business account?" when they ring you up.

I'm using 1/4-20 Plusnuts from Hanson Rivet. Those are hard to find but have the four tabs that flare out.

The beautiful thing about using 1/4-20 threads is I can find black oxide screws from McMaster. It just helps to hide them in plain sight.

I think I used a 60mm bolt. HomeDepot item.

30mm was too short, so I wanted a 50mm but seem to recall they had a 60mm. You aways want to engage a mininum of three threads, ideally 5 threads (so with 1.5 spacing that is 5 to 8 mm of thread engagement), but that threaded hole is recessed almost 12mm.

I removed the OEM ford bolt and reused a cargo hold down.

I do need to mount these guys.

Pulled from a Freightliner? A friend runs a trucking company; hence the price was right. Removed when converting from cargo to refer, but not sure.

Polished chrome, just grimy from sitting out in the shop.

I was thinking of having them powder coated black. Just handy to keep from falling on my butt!
