2015 and 2016 should be avoided.

2017 is still a problem w water leak

and someone said "Ford "fixed" the airbox issue with a redesigned airbox for 2019."

So seems I shouldn't go older than 2019?

If you've got plenty money, then go for the late models. But, it won't do you as much good as you hope... There's nothing particularly bad about the earlier models. That article is based on forum posts, and people come to forums to complain about their problems... Whereas hundreds of thousands of satisfied users with no problems do not seek out forums in the same numbers. I'm pretty sure the referenced post about the 2015 Transit has been debunked, here, repeatedly. The later models simply have not been out long enough to garner many complaints from the few people that do have problems.

You will find posts here from people asking what to look out for on various model years. The items are few, and not deal breakers. There are plenty of us driving around in 2015 and 2016 models, who remain very much satisfied.

I would be very leery of articles like that, in general. It looks to me like they've just scraped the web to get content that is basically free, to provide ad revenue. Read a real source, like this entire forum.

I agree with EddieZ...well said.

I'll mention that my 2019 has rear interior door handle that makes it easy to get out with a bed in place. I have seen people with earlier model years trying to retrofit a handle to theirs. I'm not sure what year they started adding the newer handle, but it seems like something to consider.

Don't worry about the water issue, just spend $2 and make a cover for the airbox.

Regarding "which year should I buy"; they are all the same with a few inconsequential features until 2020.

BUT: something less than 3 years old and 60k miles will still have drivetrain warranty in effect. I think a 2018 with low miles would be the most bang for the buck.
