Passenger Seat Water Pooling in Foot Area

I've been having water pool at the feet in the front passenger seat under the glove box. I took the van to a mechanic who was unable to diagnose or reproduce the issue. Originally I was concerned that there was a leak and it was related to heavy rain events. However, I have proven that this is not the case. Additionally, I thought it was related to the AC, which turns out to be a part of the issue. However, the water only pools at the feet when in humid areas and running the AC (does not occur in arid climates when running the AC), so I suspect the issue has something to do with condensation buildup? If this is the case, it sounds like more of a manufacturing defect and one that others are likely to have.

Has anyone had this issue? Is it a common/known issue? What did you do to fix it? I have looked on the forum for other threads relating to this and was unsuccessful in finding any information, so please point me towards other threads if there is one.

Thank you!

At least one forum member had an actual leak that he traced after removing the flooring and whatever else.

I had water pooled there one time, after a heavy rain. Maybe a dribble one other time. Maaybe there's water there on on occasion that is not even visible to me. 3 1/2 years. I have not been worried about it.

Not sure if there have been others.

Yes. It’s been reported a few years ago. I don’t remember what the inmate posted as the cause.

If it’s only when the AC is running, it could be the drain hose from the AC box. If there’s no puddle of water under the van when parked, it’s probably clogged. Bugs sometimes crawl/fly up into those small hoses. Maybe try some ‘thicker’ weed eater line and feed it up into the hose to check for an obstruction.

Hopefully it won’t be a problem with these vans due to FMC’s superior rust proofing/corrosion control measures used in the manufacturing process that they showed off years ago.

2015 transit I had water filling the passenger side foot well with water. I found that the drip pan under the winsheld that clips in under the glass was leaking between the two points and dripping water down the fresh air intake and down to where it bolts to the fire wall, where the two half’s snap together in the corner of it where it bolts to the fire wall the water was entering to the inside and on the floor board.

Was water visible on top of the floor mat? I also have a 2015. Water accumulates under the passenger floor mat and then runs out of the door well panel that hides the jack handle. We have had the van a few months and this just became visible. I pulled the plastic door well cover and jack panel cover, but I cannot yet determine where the water is coming from.

This is clearly an a/c condensate problem, and common. I have had it on my 2020 since new, so it's not a clogged tube. it's a defective installation. I also found a post from Hella (do they make the a/c fan system??) which describes a drain tray kit supplied by Ford after-the-fact to catch condensate that gets pushed through the ducts by the fan and then leaks out. Have not seen this information on this forum.

I’m have a 2020 Transit 350 with the same water issue on the floorboard while running the a/c in humid conditions. It be made sure the drain outside the firewall is clear as well. The m taking it to Ford soon and would appreciate some additional info. Is there any ford recalls and can anyone tell me more about the condensate after market kit please?

I'm having the same problem with my 2016 350 XLT passenger van.

As others have said, I checked for condensation water dripping after running the AC for a few minutes. There is no water drip near the front of the van (but there is one near the rear AC).

I'm trying to identify where the water should be leaking out.
Here's a photo showing what looks to me like it should be a water/drip release pipe, located inside the engine compartment in front of the firewall near the passenger compartment air filter (so just in front of the passenger seating area that gets wet). It's a flexible rubber tube that pinches together at the bottom; it looks to me like it's designed to let water drip through it without having an always-open tube. I pushed a long zip tie up it, and couldn't find any clog or moisture.

Am I identifying this correctly, or is the drain somewhere else?

PS. Thanks for the link to Hella. I have looked for the part, but not been able to find it based on the description.

My 2020 Transit has a port that extends horizontally outward from the firewall. It’s located straight back in the middle about half way down the wall. I fixed mine by reaching as far as I could with a large amount of automotive sealant and placed a 1/4” thick layer on the rubber seal around the plastic port. The a/c port has an odd canter and is not flush to the firewall. After using my finger the smear a large amount of sealant the leak stopped and appears fixed
