He sent me this message: "We can order you a 2024 Transit if you want!!! Order banks are now open! "

Any feedback would be appreciated.

When Ford opens the system for dealers to look at, is it loaded with the 2024 configurations for the various vehicles and pricing? How long is it usually before Ford actually starts accepting orders? If I were to spec out a 2024 Transit would I configure it online, print that out and take it to a dealer to place an order? Sorry for all the questions I just want to be prepared. Thx.

If you wait for Ford to do the 2024 Ford Transit order online, you may be looking at January or February before it shows up. Others on the forum have seen this in other years and will tell you don't wait for it to come online but get with a dealer once the 2024 Ford Transit Order Guide is available to the dealer.

Right now we have NO 2024 Order Guide or pricing and that is why you can't get a preview order from the dealer at this point.

Thanks for that info! So do all dealers get the 2024 Order Guide at the same time and are some dealers more likely to get the van than others at better pricing? To prepare I can configure using the 2023 online build/price and use that as a ballpark starting point for walking into a dealer once the Order Guide is out?

We can look at the 2024 Ford order system but it is not open to print a preview order or actually place a order. Ford opens the system up every year so we can look at the order system but can't place a order.
Sounds like the dealer either misunderstood or misrepresented what the order system coming up indicates. In either case, you may not be working with a dealer that can be trusted with your order.

That dealer is probably hungry to get the customer's deposit so they can lock him into a Transit order. They may not realize that it may be a LONG WAIT for a 2024 Transit order to finally get built. I played with the 2024 order bank and you can't even add the Ebony Leather seating to ANY Transit order, so hope that is just something they are not showing yet. On the current 2023 orders, the Leather seating is a current holdup to getting a order scheduled and is being held up at this time. That keeps out a lot of the Transit Trail orders that have that option on the order.

Crew Van Man,

Need some guidance to order at this time. The order that was processed in the below string by Vanchitect on 8-8-23 is very close to what I had my local dealer try to process. However, it came back with Errors as follows: 1-N653 - Vehicle Line N/A for Job #1 orders with Information: 6-M083 - Info X&L Limited Slip Axel on Order; 6-N899 -Info Front and Rear Split-View Camera (61D) includes the Honey Comb Mesh Grille with Chrome Surround; 6-O124 - Info Sync 4 Audio Package Availability is Subject to Change, and 6-O331 - Info Privacy Glass (92E) Added. Included with Window Glass Packs (17A/B/F) For Medium/High Roof Van & Pass Van.

1. I heard that the Honey Comb grill with the chrome surround has held up a lot of vehicles. Is it possible to order the black out grill with no chrome instead? Is there another way around this obstacle?
2. The 3.73 limited slip axel appears to be on back-order. What other option is there that keeps the Eco-Boost motor?
3. The Sync 4 Audio Package appears to be an issue. I want the 12inch screen with back-up camera and navigation so what other option do I have?
4. The fourth item seems to be an upgrade from regular tinted glass to privacy glass by Ford which would be reasonable but how do we make that change in the order? Also do you know if the aftermarket glass windows with vents from CRL or VWD match the darker privacy glass for the regular tinted glass as I will be upfitting the van as a camper also.

Thanks!!!

I ordered a W3U Trail and this is what the Confirmation Email (received 02.02.23) looked like that I got...it also indicated as an "XL".

It eventually showed up as a being a "Trail" on something else that I received later on.

I ordered it from a local dealer under z plan (my dad was an employee), haven’t ordered A vehicle in 20 years, it’s a very different experience. my salesman also stated the 14th is the cutoff date. Many options and colors are not available. I got what I wanted other then the power slide door, I’ll just have to wait and see what else if any of the options I choose will be unavailable By the time it gets a build date.

If someone really wants a Crew Van then Mercedes Sprinter is the way to get one now. The base price for the high-roof is $55,620. I wanted the Ford Crew Van with the greater towing capacity as the Sprinter just won't handle my 4,460-pound boat and trailer combination. Thus, I plan to wait for the 2024 Cargo Van and upfit it to become a Crew Van. The window vans (XL or XLT) that Ford makes are just not rated high enough in towing capacity to handle my boat-trailer combination as they deduct the passenger capacity from the towing capacity. Ford also no longer offers windows that open such as they did for decades in the Econoline. Thus, aftermarket upfitting is necessary to accomplish what many of us want.

The Transit was developed in the UK prior to replacing the Econoline in the USA. The 2nd generation Transit looked much like the current Transit in 1986. The third generation in Europe had a facelift in 2006 and at that point had the option of either front or rear wheel drive. The 2006 version (Ford nomenclature V347 for front-wheel drive and V348 for rear-wheel drive) won International Van of the Year in 2007. The current 4th Generation Transit as we now know it came to be in 2014 but from the outside it still looks a lot like the 1986 version. In Europe the Front wheel drive is popular. Think Ram Promaster vs. Ford Transit for FWD vs. RWD in the USA. Yes, in Europe options are for the FWD, RWD or AWD. With the demand for the Transit being so high here in the USA and the need to push them down the assembly line as fast as Ford can, I don't expect a FWD option here any time soon. In the USA we generally want more powerful engines and drive trains which also leans away from the FWD option.

An electric car focused website did a review of the new 2024 Ford Transit. Unfortunately, it does not mention ICE internal combustion engines at all. It does say "The new Ford Transit is an electric van that can easily travel up to 236 miles on a single charge (74 kWh)." I certainly hope Ford is going to continue the ICE otherwise I will be changing to a Mercedes Sprinter.

Ford is updating the Ford Transit in the USA also. Hopefully the order banks will open in September, but production will be a way into 2024. See the below link for some clues as to what changes are expected in the Order Banks.

This is not related to the Ford Transit version built in the USA. This may confuse someone not familiar with the Transit and think this one is what is coming out for the 2024 model.

ChatGPT? Take a look at the Privacy Policy which contains "Suggested Text" throughout. And the article has a paragraph that says something like complete Redesign for 2024. Then the next paragraph says just minor changes.
