I just went through this myself with a used transit. So far I've found no solution, even when it was ordered and delivered with it.

The thing that is needed is the card that came with the keypad that has the master 5-digit code on it. In my case, the previous owner was contacted by the dealership for me and he said that he never used the keypad and any paperwork from the glovebox had been discarded long ago :|

I highly recommend to anyone with a keypad to set their own personal code (I always use the same familiar zip code for every keypad), leave the card with the owner's manual, and record the number somewhere (mine are listed in my contacts list as "vehicle information" along with VINs, tag #s , etc)

You can, at least, still use the keypad to lock the doors by programming all your keyfobs and other keypads at the same time.

C2 – LOOK UP MASTER CODE THROUGH ONLINE APPLICATION
The accessory wireless RF keypad can only be used with vehicles that are factory built with RKE and
without PEPS (vehicles that require IDS for programming the wireless RF keypad can have PEPS if it
does not also have factory remote start). The master code for the wireless RF keypad can be
retrieved from FMCDealer- Parts and Service- Parts Product Line Information- Keys/Entry Devices-
Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Access to this site is granted to DPES authorized
users. Once accessed, the master code retrieval process is given.
The master code for the wireless RF keypad cannot be retrieved from the body module with a
diagnostic tool.






General Information

• You will only see the key code link if your user ID has been granted access.
• The wireless RF keypads are a dealer accessory.
• Key codes are available for both wireless RF keypad versions:
• 7L2Z-14A626–BA
• ES7Z-14A626–A
• The system will provide the master key code once the flash code has been entered.
• To get the flash code from the wireless RF keypad (read all steps prior to performing code
retrieval):
• Press and hold the 1/2 and 3/4 buttons on the keypad.
• While pressing the 1/2 and 3/4 buttons, press and hold the 7/8 button until the 9/0 button
flashes, then release the buttons.
• Count and record each flash (including the first one). The 9/0 button will flash each digit

Hey asdrew, just recently picked up a keyless entry keypad. The included instructions were not particularly inclusive regarding the exact process specific to the Transit for programming the suite of keyfobs and keypad. Several attempts with a variety of web based "help" has resulted in confusion (and no solution). Any good links to a true answer?

I lost the instructions for both of mine. Is there any way you (or someone else) can scan or take a pic of the instructions (particularly operating instructions) and post it here? I know how to just lock and unlock but have issues with the wife not being able to remember exactly what buttons to push after entering the code so she needs a cheat sheet to keep on her phone.

 

From the forum somewhere:

Code only - unlock driver's door
3/4 - unlock all doors after entering the code.
7/8 + 9/0 - lock all doors - don't have to enter the code.

Low Power Warning - If you unlock the door with the keypad and the locks cycle one additional time, replace the unit, battery is not replaceable (can cut the unit out and replace the battery - forums)


Enrolling Ford keyless entry touch pad - Transit Van
1) Have all your keys and keypads near you. You have to touch a button on each device. You may have to use a second person for keypads outside the vehicle

2) Insert a key in the ignition.

3) Turn the key from OFF to RUN 4 times ending on OFF. The system will chime to confirm that the vehicle is in programming mode. (Do not start the engine, just turn the key to the run position)

4) Key1 - Within 10 seconds, press any button on Key1. The system will chime once to confirm that Key1 has been programmed.

5) Key2 - Within 10 seconds of programming Key1, press any button on Key2. The system will chime once to confirm that Key2 has been programmed. Repeat step 5 if you have more than 2 keys.

6) Keypad1 - Within 10 seconds of programing Key2, press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time on Keypad1. The system will chime once to confirm that Keypad1 has been programmed. Repeat step 6 again if you have more than 1 keypad

7) After the last device has been programmed, turn the key to run to exit programming mode

8) Test each key and keypad to make sure they can unlock or lock the doors



Programming a Personal Entry Code
To create your own personal entry code:
- Enter the factory-set code.
- Press 1•2 on the keypad within five seconds.
- Enter your personal 5-digit code. You must enter each number within five seconds of each other.
- Press 1•2 on the keypad to save personal code 1.
- The doors will lock and unlock to confirm that you have successfully programmed a personal entry code.

Tips:
- Do not set a code that uses five of the same number.
- Do not use five numbers in sequential order.
- The factory-set code will work even if you have set your own personal code.


Erasing a Personal Code
- Enter the factory-set 5-digit code.
- Press and release 1•2 on the keypad within five seconds.
- Press and hold 1•2 for two seconds. You must do this within five seconds of completing Step 2.
- All personal codes are now erased and only the factory-set 5-digit code will work.

For some reason I have found 4, 6, or 8 sequences as magic numbers- also ending with the key off as well as on. Sometimes you get it right the first time, others after a few tries. The last one I did on my 2018 took a while to get it into chime mode, I think some of the tries were too fast off/on and others were too slow.

btw I turn off the ac, radio, etc when programming so they aren't turning off/on too.

 

I'll look around for an instruction sheet, but it's not clear to me which thing you need better info for.

Eiko's post #4 above explains how to program keypads and key fobs, they all have to be done at the same time.

Once you enter the code the doors should unlock if it is set to global unlock.
If not, the driver's door unlocks first, then press 3/4 to unlock the others. To lock all the doors, press 7/8 and 9/0 at the same time.

 

I just programmed my new keyless pads on my 2016 transit, and found after a few fruitless tries, that one has to turn the ignition key from off to on four times... WITHIN SIX SECONDS!!! ... or nothing happens. So there is a time limit to do this. Four times... off to on, off to on, off to on, off to on...off, then there will be a short beep to signal that you are in program mode. At least that was what worked for me....the rest is as Eiko posted above. So don't fool around looking at all the pretty lights on the dashboard.

In the spirit of our disposable society...

Your keypad does not have replaceable batteries. I think some have figured out a way to change them but basically they are disposable, so here's my advice:

1. Tear off old keypad
2. Order new keypad (I found mine easily online)
3. Stick on and program new keypad according to instructions
4. Spend the rest of the day enjoying your keypad and researching all the recalls that your van needs.

 

Thanks again to @somekevinguy for sharing the elusive information on extracting the factory wireless keypad code. My helpful parts dept got on FMCdealer.com and found the code I've been trying to discover for 2 months to no avail. 0

Just a note: the regular young counter guy got all the way to entering the flash code and found his user ID did not have access to get the code. The parts manager had to key it in for me instead.

Well tried this today. Took a video of the flash code on my phone and printed the pdf above. Unfortunately the Ford service manager couldn’t locate the page that pdf above refers to to put in the flash code. He told me that Ford has reorganized their menu stutcure on their dealer website and that path doesn’t lead to where he puts the code in. He really tried and did give it a good solid shot, then put a call in to someone outside the dealership and said he would get back to me.
Wondering, anyone had any luck lately? I know this thread is a couple years old but just wondering if anyone has had success in the past year or so.

 

I know this is an old thread but it's one of the main ones that comes up when you search so it's still relevant. I just tried the procedure listed above and was able to successfully obtain my lost Master Code from the local dealership. I think the procedure might have changed a bit recently within the dealer's website/database, but I couldn't get a confirmation on that from the Parts Manager I was working with. It does need to be someone with elevated credentials ("DPES authorized user") like a parts manager. He had to do some digging and make a call to someone to figure it out but after he did he said it was a "relatively painless" experience. So can you still use the "flash code" to obtain the Master Code for a wireless keypad at a local dealership in 2022? Yes, if you find one with elevated credentials willing to figure it out.

Be sure to bring proof of ID and ownership of the van, and a printed copy of the procedure above in post #11, as well as your extracted flash code. You would do well to repeatedly mention the procedure itself is from FoMoCo's TSB SSM 47009, which applies to many vehicles including your van.
