Can someone please enlighten me about the boron no drill zones? Attached the boron slider and rear door images. My question: are the door jambs boron? I would like to put retractable screens on both openings. I have written to three manufacturers. The first responded with a few questions but nothing since. The second has yet to reply. Today I emailed a manufacturer near me I included the top left two pictures I got off the Sprinter forum and the picture of mine with the rear doors open I took today. All that stuff was in my F150.

Boron steel is drillable. Use a TiN coated bit. I needed to mount shelves and had to poke a couple of holes in it. The "no drill zones" are really "no drill mindlessly without regard to what challenges the material or the risks to stuff behind the metal you're drilling will pose zones." Step drills are your friends here.

I killed a couple TiN-coated bits before I realized it was the boron steel that was doing it. Switched to cobalt and busted through in seconds.

I just installed a plus-nut in the upper bend of the window metal. I have low roof and the area is right behind driver’s seat directly under the air bag. Also look at the pic of the US BEMM (in color) and European BEMM (in black in white) having the same view of the door, but the European view has a much better delineation of where the boron items are along the window edge. I used cobalt drill bit without any problem.
