I just got my new van and am trying to figure out exactly how I want to do the floor.
For sub floor, I was going to do 1" foam insulation board and cut out channels where the ribs of the van floor go for a direct fit.
Then install 1/2" plyboard on top with glue and also with bolts using the large 3/8" predrilled, reinforced holes already in the floor from factory.
My worry is that the foam board will be very squeaky installed directly onto the metal.
I dont want to add a ton of material that'll make the van higher to get into and lose clearance inside of the van for usable space. Most of these builds Im seeing build up a platform level with the ribs , then add thick insulation, and another thick plywood layer, seems like way over kill to me.
Right now I just threw a bunch of 18" X18" rubber backed outdoor carpet squares temporarily, it seems like this is insulating well and its not noisy at all in the back.
For floor covering, Im thinking of the RecPro diamond plate rubber flooring on the entire floor on top of the plywood
Anyone have experience with this? Specifically how grippy/soft it is and if it has any nasty fume smells?
I got some Lonseal samples and they're too hard and slippery for my liking, plus smell pretty strong
Any advice is much appreciated, thank you
