George of Humble Road uses it for "the Avocado Shelf." Later versions use a rounded, padded edge to prevent tall people from hitting their head on it.

 

Plenty of usage space up there. Just not too low or too deep so tall folks can egress without a hardhat! ;-)

Catfish ...

 

Cabinet over half of it - with neoprene padding on the deadly corners. In winter, I have hangers off that (also padded) rail right above the open area that I hang wet / snowy gear off when I'm in a storm - just drips into the slider step.

 

I upholstered the factory holes to put random things in there (headlamps, keys, sunscreen, etc.)

 

The TV is swing arm mounted and swings into that space for viewing from the E/W rear bed. I forgot the TV was in that position one itme (and one time only!) and popped in through the side door hitting my head on the swing arm. There is a dent in my skull from that incursion. Be careful what goes in that space!
