Thank you for sharing your experience and information about how to remove the speed limiter on your used 350. It's not uncommon for commercial vehicles to come with speed limiters, but it can be frustrating if the limit is too low for your needs.
It's great that you were able to find a dealership that was able and willing to remove the speed limiter for you. Reprogramming the ECU is a common method for removing speed limiters on many vehicles, but it's important to make sure that any modifications you make are legal and safe.

I have a 2018 GMC Savana 2500 Cargo Van. Have the same issue as the speed is set to 70 and cruise control can only be set at 64. I know this is a Ford Transit Forum, but I have learned from this post and purchased the OBDlink MX+. Any suggestions or direction for a GMC Savana? thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you've learned from this post and taken steps to resolve your issue. I'm sure the members of this forum can provide some advice and direction to you, GMC or not. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Thank you for the warm welcome @kanjielee12. I was able to get the limiter removed. Through a few referrals here in San Antonio I ended up at a Fuel Injection Specialties and the owner Tracy Meinert took care of me. She connected the HP Tuner Software and it showed the 70 MPH limit. She did a little research with the software to make sure there were no other issues that would arise after removing the limit. She purchased the required credits and removed 70 MPH limit that also allowed the cruise control to be set at any speed vs the previous 64 MPH. I can now keep up and passed other traffic on Texas Highways.

Did the changes in the Central Configuration Main Module that are recommended on the forum in Enginnering Mode although the Normal mode would probably have worked.
1. Speed Limitation No speed limit
2. Adjustable Speed Limiter: Without ASL
Wrote to the BCM (body control module successfully)
BUT this didn't solve the speed limitation issue.
So Thankfully you posted the setting in the "Vehicle ID Block Configuration Module"
Running the latest version Forscan 2.3.50 with Extended licence I found the "Vehicle speed limit: 75 mph" setting.
Changed the setting to "no limit" but when I was trying to WRITE to the PCM got this error:
"Service procedure has been interrupted" and thus would not write the new setting.
Solution:
Downloaded the older version 2.3.33 BETA as in your snapshot/screenshot.
IT worked--I was able to write the new setting to the PCM Vehicle ID configuration.

Thanksfully no more speed limitation and can now pass other cars and switch lanes without hesitations.
There must be a glitch with the new version. Would not write to the PCM.

Lucky you - Do you by any chance have a link to the 2.3.33 BETA version. I have the 2.3.55 but that doesn't seem to show the PCM Vehicle ID configuration as you mentioned. Where is that located?
The one I open up (2.3.33) wants me to download some pseudo app charging $20 -
Any step by step help would be appreciated.

From the forscan download page scroll to the bottom of the page and click the link that says "Full FORScan v2 Changes History " or just click the link that I copied here then scroll down to v2.3.33

Thanks dinocarsfast. Downloaded 2.3.33 + 2.3.52 + 2.3.56 - tried them all, but to no avail. Just can't find the PCM, Central Configuration or BCM modes. I have a 2014 Ford E 350 Box Truck (ex Budget rentals).

I really need your help. i went to a mecanic shop and asked the guy to remove the speed limiter using forscan. Then he decided to reset the BCM to factory settings, thinking that would do the trick. It didn’t. instead, now the van won’t start. He also didn’t save the BCM configuration, so now we don’t know what to do to reprogram the BCM with the rest. please help me, it is very important

I’m not sure how your service tech did this to your van, or what parameters he cleared out. You can get the VIN.ab file that has all of the factory stock data for your van from this site https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt

This file is for the ford dealership diagnostic software IDS but with a little knowledge and problem solving you will be able to get the hexadecimal parameters for your van. If I remember correctly the 720.xx.xx values are for BCM, and the hexadecimal at the end is for the central configuration.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me.

Today, a professionnal mecanic told us that the issue is the timing chain.
Before the BCU was resetted, there was a check engine and the code said :
« camshaft position ».

To your knowledge, it it at all possible the the resetting of the BCU module could have cause any problem resulting in a broken timing chain (for example, if the BCU was no longer synced to the PCU).

OR MAYBE, do you think it could be a MASSIVE coincidence that I went to the mecanic that day, and that the timing chain issue just happen on the same day, with no relation whatsoever between the two events ?

This is a service van that belongs to my boss, and now he seems sure that all of this is my fault.

in short, do the BCU have any chance to provoke a problem that could break or damage the timing chain ?

thanks a lot for your help. Please excuse my english, I come from Quebec, Canada.

I know I am new here but I thought I would mention this issue because I was unable to get a straight answer to this question on the forums I visited or from the dealers.

I purchased a used 350 that was used as commercial vehicle and had a factory option (listed on the window sticker) for speed limited to 121 KPH (=75MPH)
Needless to say I needed this feature deleted ASAP as I was not even able to keep the limit in the States near me, i.e. Montana is 80Mi.

So when I called around the dealers in Calgary they either refused to remove it, or refused try to remove it or they told me it cannot be done.

However, it can easily be done. Reprogramming the ECU will delete this limit and Foothills Ford in Claresholm did this repair for me. It can also be added back again, and multiple settings are available.

I hope this clears things up for anyone in the need to know.
Hi! Could you please tell me what it cost to have the speed limiter removed? Thanks!
