I put it on today it took me about an hour but that was including looking for tools. I supported the bottom of the door with some boxes and I needed a friend to help maneuver the brackets around the hinges. The part I'm confused about was where the handle for the door fits, do you put the bracket right over the rubber seal. Very straightforward very easy

Are you talking about the driver’s side? I cut a slit and fed it through, I think some people put it on top also.

My driver's side brackets arrived a few days ago. Installed them that night. Door alignment was WAAAAAAAY off afterward, but it was getting dark so I left it for the next day.

Closed the doors and -- as I did -- noted that the sound they'd normally make when being closed was different. Different 'clunk' when they latched. Figured I'd sort it out in the morning.

Well, morning came and now the doors won't open at all -- either of them. Has nothing to do with the locks, it's the lower latch.

I can release the upper latch by crawling inside and using the lever on the driver's door. But the lower latch is stuck.

Suggestions? Schematic (video?!) on how to release it from the inside?

Thanks.

If it’s just the top latch that is catching you could just unbolt the latch from the inside I believe.
I would also like to see how you mounted the bracket as the hinge bolts to the door just the same as before and the bracket is between the hinge and the head of the bolt. So it shouldn’t affect the alignment much.
Also I made it so you can tighten the middle bolt to align the door to how it was then tighten the outside bolts to align the bracket to the frame you make.

Ended up completely removing the driver's 'loop' of the latch from the door, swinging the barn doors open, then disassembling/reassembling everything after realigning the doors.

The caveat to all of this is that there isn't a level spot on my property, so I installed the brackets with the van at a ~10* tilt. Those doors are heavy, and when you loosen the bolts to slide the brackets in the doors shift a lot.

Lesson learned.

Ford Transit Campervan Rear Door Mounts for 253 Degree Hinges (aka 270), DIY Extra Storage - Etsy

I have wanted to build my own rear door rack for carrying bicycles or my unicycle but all the manufactured options were way to expensive for me so I decided to design my own and the goal is to sell these on Etsy and save people a lot of money, and or time. Enabling DIYers to customize a rear door rack to fit their needs. I understand not everyone has a welder or wants to build something with 8020 but for a fabricator these base mounts will save a lot of time.

Hi. Great job on these. I’ve been a long time member but don’t post anything(which will change soon) I’ve been working on somethings and need to make changes and would like to purchase some of these for my project. I’d PM you but I think I have to have more posts. Can you PM me or is there a way we can communicate so I can buy 2 sets of these?

PM sent!

Someone earlier posted that you needed to put a few reference lines in the hinge and door so when you install the brackets you can realign the hinges properly. I did that and the install was flawless.

Are these brackets strong enough to mount the spare tire on the rear door? Has anyone done this?
The brackets are 1/8” stainless steel, probably stronger than the door. Most people don’t send me pictures after they make their frame but two people have that made a spare tire carrier. I can’t find one of the pictures but here is one example.

I just built a rack for holding a propane tank, a trasharoo and possibly mounting a spare tire. I used the brackets, a harbor freight aluminum ramp, it is solid. Here are some pictures.
