I was in a similar situation as everyone else. I needed to carry four bikes and wanted to have access to the rear of the van without tripping over a bulky vertical rack. I did a lot of research and most bike rack manufacturers won't sell the individual pieces to put your own together. Lolo is the only one who does and their stuff rocks. I was able to get four bikes on one door by fabricating my own pivoting rack.

It doesn't have a popular brand name on it, so it will probably fall apart. You need to make some stickers that have a company logo on them, like

I haven't seen this one posted yet... Alta Racks. We have the Superior E-Quattro which allows the passenger door to swing completely open and the driver door to swing mostly open. It's extremely stable and extremely well built but definitely expensive. I think some of their bigger racks can also tilt out of the way to allow both doors to open; there are some videos on youtube of this. I also hang an overland style trash bag on ours...

Ultimately, I'd like to get one of the rear door cargo racks from Flatline or Aluminess and mount a vertical 1up or Lolo rack but they are sooo expensive!

I also had a RakAttach and 1up on our Tacoma camper for like 8 years. We did many many miles of rough road on that setup with no issues. That was a great system for the truck but felt like it added too much length to the van...

My setup is not just about the bicycle rack...

I bought the Rig'd RambleSwing (RambleSwing™ Swing Out Hitch Rack | RiGd Supply) a year ago with the moto in mind, but have mostly been using it with my 1UP seen above.

Last week I finally had the chance to set it up with my moto.
The swing out is rated for 300lbs... and this is my 250lb 2005 KTM 450 EXC hanging off of it!

This post is premature since the rack has been ordered but not received yet.

I'm going with a single-tray QuikR Stuff rack this time. Mach2 Single Rack - 2" Hitch - QuikrStuff - Proudly made in the USA

And when my bank account recovered I am thinking about going with this swing-out tire/bike rack carrier:
How has the rack been with your Transit? Are you able to open the rear doors with a bike mounted?
