The new Bluetooth thermostat is working great on my Velit. The wheel has better tactile feedback, slightly larger LCD, and when you depress the wheel to start/stop, it gives you nice audible feedback now. I can control the unit from inside my garage; handy during the build. If I know I'm headed out there in a bit, I'll just pop the heater on without having to make a special trip in the snow. Unit is all black now also so easier to blend into a wall aesthetic.

Installed mine this weekend in my Ford Transit van and when I went to turn it on the fan came on for a few seconds and then shut off with an error code "7...Fuel Pump error". When I primed it I could hear the fuel pump clicking and I could see fuel coming through the line....but when I went to turn the heater on the fan comes on for a few seconds and then the whole things just shuts off. If I wait a few minutes and try again the same thing happens. I am leaning towards removing the fuel filter to see if that works...but am also wondering if it is a defective fuel pump. Any ideas?

Pics of the install? Angle of things can make a difference. Aux port or standpipe for the tank connection?
Fully seating the hoses on the connectors and then tightening the hose clamps was a bear. Socket wrench definitely better for those vs. a screwdriver trying to get them tight.

I did use the auxiliary port. Tightened everything with a socket wrench but maybe I didn't get the tubing all the way in which so I will double check that tomorrow and will try to take pictures. Even after priming, there are still large air bubbles in the line in several places both before and after where the fuel pump is tied in. Anybody else have that issue and how did you troubleshoot?

Well, when you do get it to work, I've been impressed so far. Granted we've got 2 layers of thinsulate in the van, 1" in the floor, and 1/8" neoprene on all other hard surfaces - but I had no window coverings at all in the cab area which is a huge heat loss area in cold weather. Despite that, tonight working in the van the Velit was able to keep a 61 degree temp delta temp delta compared to outside. Very little wind though.

Can you see the fuel line near the heater? Can you see fuel and bubbles moving? Some bubbles are normal.

I had this (error code 7) and was resolved last week by having new firmware installed by Velit. First they will have you check Ohms of the 2 brown wires at the 8pt harness at the heater and at the fuel pump. If about 5 it is ok. You will need to call Velit about it regardless.

Velit is working with me on this issue, so maybe there will be better updates soon, but I didn't find a ton of reviews. They have been very communicative and helpful, but also... the heater has been installed for 2 weeks.

My suspicion is that this heater is susceptible to the same issues as many of the diesel heaters and needs similar maintenance, ie run on high periodically.

I left the heater on thermostat mode for about a week. Temp set to 50-60f during that time. Sipped fuel, kept the van warm. Pretty excellent.

Operating at medium altitude ~4000ft. Using aux port. All angles on exhaust and pump have been verified.

After about a week, I started getting an 002 error, checked the lines, saw a few small bubbles, but fuel was clearly moving through. Restarted, things seemed ok. Error came back a few times and then switched to an 001 error. Disconnected power, reconnected. Error returned. Noticed a LOT of carbon on the ground, and began to suspect a clog or the like.

Called velit, they sent a flow chart which essentially told me to disconnect everything and clean the combustion chamber. I'm not stoked on this requires a new gasket and shouldn't be an issue for operating something for such a short period of time. On the phone they revealed that this most recent batch has been having some kind of issue like this.

I disconnected the muffler, to see if there was build up in the exhaust. Definitely soot but no large solid pieces like on the ground.

Ran the heater on high without the muffler for about an hour.

Reconnected muffler and got an error within 5 minutes. Reset the error and tried again, then it was able to run on high for 2ish hours before I turned it off.

Their current troubleshooting involved me measuring the output from the fuel pump when it ran on prime. Output was ~1tbs.

Hoping that the running on high will fix things, I would really prefer not to have to clean the chamber every two weeks. They're discussing with their engineer and will hopefully help figure out what's wrong.

Bummer to hear that. I've been running mine on thermostat mode on the driveway for 8-12 hour days at 1000 feet for a couple of months without issue (turn it off each night). I stick a finger in the Webasto muffler I added each week and clean as can be. No errors so far. Bought mine in Dec 2023 (back then it didn't come with a muffler). I did standpipe, not aux port for fuel supply. I did upgrade the unit to the bluetooth capable thermostat + ECU last month.

Its reassuring that it's possible.

I'm happy to change it to the standpipe if that's the answer. It came with an aux port adapter, so that seemed like a reasonable approach at the time.

I also haven't figured out how to get the Bluetooth working. My phone sees the device, but the app won't connect.

The muffler I have came with the heater, so hopefully it isn't causing the problem.

Hey all, wondering if anyone has some thoughts on this. I recently installed my Velit but am getting a really strong gas smell in the van. Exhaust is away from any openings, van well insulated, triple checked the install and it all looks good.

Has anyone run into this with their Velit (or any other heaters)? Had an Espar prior and never had this particular issue. Any thoughts are helpful thanks!

Mine never smelled this way.
I was careful connecting the fuel pump line to not dribble gas anywhere and used a nut driver to tighten things vs. a screwdriver.

I had raw gas smell because I ran the self prime mode a little too long. It seems like that should be the only reason to have a gas smell & it should air out fairly quickly

I wouldn't call the gas smell in my van strong. But any gas smell is worrisome which is why I contacted them. It was just noticeable for the first 15 hours of running it and is no longer there. Well, I think it is completely gone as the new owner hasn't said anything to me and we keep in contact.

I am planning on putting another Velit heater and try out their 12v A/C in my next build.

update to this, they're replacing the unit.

When I do the reinstall I'm going to use their standpipe just to be sure that's all in working order, but I sent them a bunch of photos and videos and they said that that shouldn't be the issue given the amount. if fuel moving.

They want me to return the old unit for testing. And it's all on back order again, so I'll be waiting a bit.

They say it should be able to run on low w/o coking

40°F setpt for Espar? or Velit?
I got a Velit heater on 2/17/2025 and it's set point goes down to 40°F.

Although so far I've only operated it in my driveway, I'm really happy with it.
