My van has less then 500miles and the AC has quit. Took it to the dealer and they don't know what the issue is. It will only blow out 50 degree air. Anyone else having AC issues????:(

Also, It has the symptoms of a faulty compressor or low refrigerant. Hopefully there's not a leak... Compressor will cycle on/off constantly and the air will blow ice cold for say 6 seconds and then warmer/humid air for about the same time. It did not do this when I drove it the first week after purchasing. Crossing my fingers here...

I have a 2019 Transit MR cargo van with the 3.7L with 500 miles with similar A/C problems. The A/C compressor will cycle on/off constantly and the air will blow ice cold for around 10 seconds and then warmer air for about the same amount of time. Has anyone resolved this issue, and if so how. This Texas heat is killing me. I know the Transit can put out cold air (34 degrees at the vent), but then it goes warm for the same amount of time until the A/C compressor kicks back on again.

That sounds like a faulty pressure or thermal switch, or possibly thermostat. I haven't worked on a/c systems for over a decade, they may have completely different control systems now. Hopefully your dealer has somebody good at troubleshooting and not just swapping parts.

The dealer has some of the best troubleshooters I've seen at any dealership in a long time. Why I bought the van from there... Anywho, they def found some ground short error code in the BCM and reset it and now my AC has been working flawlessly for about 34 miles. Now back to the same issues... They agree it's some sort of temp sensor of recirc/fresh air valve malfunction and submitted to ford for parts approval. We shall see how this goes. I have a feeling my dash will also be disassembled...

Now I get from reading your post this truck has a problem with the AC.
I blanken live in AZ.

I own a 2016 Ford transit T150, within a span of 2 months I've already replaced two compressors, both front and rear evaporators and a line that was leaking. Got it back from the dealership last week and the ac stopped working yesterday morning. Going back to the dealership tomorrow to see what's wrong it this time

The AC on my ‘15 Tranny has quit blowing cold air a couple of times. I unplugged the huge wiring harness plug on top of the ECU, sprayed electrical contact cleaner on both ends of the plug, let dry, and reassembled the wiring harness plug. It’s been posted before that many gremlins of the electrical system arise from this oft water soaked connection.

I really need to make a TURD for this plug.

I have the same AC problem for few days now. Transit 2019 cargo van as well. About 8000 Miles. As you described, my AC starts to blow cold air but after 15 minutes of drive the air stats to be less cold, and eventually it blows air which is a little warm (not heat thought), and then after 5 minutes the air gets a little colder until it is pretty cold and it keeps on going in and out. I put the van at Ford dealer for diagnostics and off course they said they couldn't find any problem. I will call them again tomorrow and beg that they will take it more seriously ... :(

basically i had the same issue. got it vacuumed and filled professionally and blew cold for about a week. then it started blowing cold on and off. it was random. sometimes lasted a few min to an hour. no one could figure it out. got some of that ac fluorescent stuff and added it to my system. i let it run for a day and checked it with a black light... found a leak passenger side thick line and found the leak was small but coming from the soldered area. manufactured defect. same line where the drier is. it leaked at the block at the ac line. basically check for leaks and check seals cause it looks like ford did some crap quality control. im not expert but i didn't want to pay to have someone half ass the diagnostic and throw generic answers at me.

The Transit mixes hot air from the heater with cold air from the AC to maintain what ever temp the temperature control is set at. Hot water flows threw the heater at all times, the hot water can not be turned off. Two blending doors control the hot and cold air mix.
There is a forum thread or two here somewhere the tells how to electrically wire the door so the heat door stays shut.

2014 TC with the same intermittent AC issue. Noticed that when it went out the outside temperature would show -43⁰ when it was a good 85⁰ F outside. After a while the temp display would rise, get above 50-something and the compressor would come back on. The computer thinks it's too cold and shuts it down. Replaced the ambient air temperature sensor ($9 from eBay), cleaned and greased the contacts and the problem is gone.

For some reason the location of this sensor is apparently a closely guarded secret, but on mine it is next to the lowest, farthest right (driver's side) vent hole in the corner. It is a friction fitting right in the plastic bumper cover. Drop the felt bottom engine cover and you can reach behind and pull it out. You can feel the mounting hole from the outside with one hand to guide while pushing the sensor in with your other hand.

The sensor is about 2" from my finger tip in the photo.

Let me know if this fixes your issue. My dealership missed this on THREE visits.

Wow. I could have written this post abut my 2018 Transit T350 using your words.
The location of my sensor is not where yours is, but the problem sounds identical. How did you know which part was the ambient air temp sensor? You mentioned it as a closely guarded secret.
I have had the issue occur 3 times now. Once last summer, (I thought it was an anomaly), then twice in the last month.
In Tucson. In summer.
Thanks,

Blind luck really. Already had the replacement part so I knew what to feel around for. Luckily didn't bang around on an air bag sensor :)

Jumping in on this discussion as I've been working a similar issue for about a year.. I've finally made some headway, but it definitely seems that some of the issue here are unrelated and unique to each rig.. But nevertheless, here's my story..
I bought the van used from Ford dealer, in October 2020 (it's a 2018 T350 3.7L) it had about 50k miles on it.. AC worked fine until about late August 2021.. Started blowing warm in some vents, cold in others.. Tried to struggle through the last 5-6 weeks of heat (in Southern Oregon).. I found I could run the AC and get cold air as long as I didn't go above a 2 on the dial, also hopping on the freeway seemed to provide enough cooling that the AC then could be turned to max.. Thought condenser fan was the culprit, but after testing of the fan, we found no faults.. managed with it until the Fall took to shop, they checked AC charge, noticed the High side pressure was high, thought maybe overcharged so recirculated the system.. seemed to work, pressure looked nominal but ambient temperatures had dropped with the weather so, didn't know for sure.. Fast forward Summer 2022 and we're back to trying to manage by not turning the AC above 2... Pretty soon, that didn't work either. I had nothing at all.. decided to replace the condenser fan since we could get cold air under certain very specific circumstances, like going through the carwash, the AC would blow ice cold, pull out and then it would quit..etc.. Replaced the fan assembly, the AC worked.. but then we noticed, the fan wouldn't kick in to high speed, or at least wouldn't stay on.. immediately the compressor would start cycling on and off.. So, we decided to move some fan relays around.. Put the low speed fan relay to the High speed location.. voila.. the fan stopped turning off and the AC stayed cold.. Not sure the exact function with the low speed, since it must have a bad relay in it currently.. though it's still working.. Gonna replace it FORD # for Hi speed & Low speed Relays ( 5M5T-14B192-EA ) found aftermarket equivalent HELLA brand # 933332531 at local parts store.. gonna try it out.. The only problem I'm still having, is that when I turn the "Rear-Air" on, it shuts the compressor down.. going back into the shop to check refrigerant level, pressures, and see what circuits/parameters the Climate control system is using to make it's decisions.. Hope this helps some of you, check those relays.. I read about them some time back and ignored it.. They were definitely part of the problem.. Hopefully update soon about the rear issues and how that's resolved.

2024 extended dialog passenger. 5K miles. Air went out while in the keys on vacation. Local dealer thought he had it fixed twice. They drained and recharged him t twice etc etc. finally the put a brand new compressor in it and so far it works great. They said they having issues with 3/4 ton pickups doing the same thing.
