I picked up sterling's new B2B charger. I am gonna install it soon and will report back here with details.

Noob questions:

1) Sterling recommended to wire this, and the rest of my system using the alternator/starter negative (not chassis), should I just grab it from my AGMs under the seat?

2) Does this mean I need to run another, large gauge negative back to my power panel to add a common negative the rest of the system?

3) Should still use CCP instead of yanking power off my AGMs as well? The sterling will be fused (6AWG 80A) and has a low voltage and vibration sensor to manage the starter load.

Dual AGMs under the driver seat as part of the power sliding door package. Should I have put a trigger warning on that? I know a lot of people weren't able to get that option LOL

Ben (the owner?) said:

Negatives need to be direct and common, chassis is insufficient for a BB system. We need both batteries and the BB to be on the same direct negative circuit, just so we can read voltages and adjust voltages cleanly.. Without a common negative, negative current rises and we start seeing inefficiencies and even damage.. !

Better late than never from my promised update! I ran a single B2B70 for 2 years and got about 50A of charging at idle with a single alternator. I added a second, did the high power hack, and get 70-100A of idle charging.

The second B2B is a newer version that charges the starter battery from the house batteries. A good bonus.

That's great. I have a year old 24V 120 Sterling waiting to get installed.

One item I wanted is to have the loads properly shown on the Cerbo UI. With the latest firmware I understand you can now properly classify a smart-shunt as an alternator so it gets separated from the DC loads. Have you looked into doing that?
I looked into this and I would need at add a second smart shunt before my B2B. I may add it, but not before my trip on Sunday!
