Is it possible that CCP2 goes hot when you unlock the van or open the door? I've never been quite clear on exactly what causes CCP2 go hot, but perhaps it's something other than engine start.
That is likely. The way to test is to connect something (in clear view from a window) to CCP2 with a power on indicator light or something. Close the doors, go in the house, and drink some beers. Come back to check it every 30 minutes without opening a door or touching the keyfob.

Chances are it will shut off and the only reason CCP2 appears to have stayed on for days is that something was triggered before checking. Once that part is solved, turn your attention to checking if the refrigerator light goes out when the door is closed, lol

If you're asking about the relay @Luther linked, it will work fine for any amperage up to its 30a limit. It's kinda like running one lamp in your house on a circuit that has a 20a breaker, not an issue.

As for the 4 pins, when + and - are applied to the two facing each other, the other two are connected. When power is taken away, they disconnect.

That's great that the draw is miniscule. small relay should handle it fine.

I'm not an electrical guru, but it seems that the relay being closer to the source makes sense.
