external rear door storage

I'm looking for external rear door storage for shower bag and maybe a few other light things. I don't need a burly $1000 rack for this. I'm thinking a big bag, or cargo net bolted to the skin with backing plate inside. Any ideas?

I would personally try to avoid bolting anything to the van exterior skin. But that's just me.

Theres a category of external bags that can be adapted to hang off nearly anything. The most notable might be the "Trasharoo" product. You'll want to make sure it has good UV resistance or its likely to deteriorate in a year or two. The Trasharoo is focused on holding trash. But there are other versions that have more pockets and divided storage compartments. Good ones can get pretty expensive for what they are.

If you bolted something like a molle panel to the rear door, you could attach almost anything, soft or hard.

I understand the concern about bolting to the skin & I may change my mind when I look closer at the task. I had a shower bag and a small gas can on L track on the skin on my PM and it worked just fine. I saw the trash bags, & a propane bag which might work. I'm leaning toward an L track and duffle bag system since I have both of those sitting in the garage right now. That's a good idea about the molle panel, I'll think more on that.

The price for some of the fully built rear door racks I thought was way too much too, especially for a DIYer like myself. So yeah, I made these brackets so people can make a rear door rack with 8020 or a simple welded frame.

they’re available on my Etsy or just PM me, I sell them directly for less. Etsy’s fees are rather high.
