I have wanted to build my own rear door rack for carrying bicycles or my unicycle but all the manufactured options were way to expensive for me so I decided to design my own and the goal is to sell these on Etsy and save people a lot of money with these and they will be able to customize a rear door rack to fit their needs. I understand not everyone has a welder or wants to build something with 8020 but for a fabricator these base mounts will save a lot of time.

5 people showed interest from another thread where I mentioned I was making these. So I ordered 5 powder coated black and if I designed enough tolerance to match Ford's assembly tolerances then I'll sell them on Etsy. But for now I have a rather inexpensive bike rack mount for myself

@dinocarsfast Do you have dimensions on the aluminum frame you attached to the brackets?

 

These are the dimensions that I designed it to be. On my van the width was about 1/4" narrower. Use these measurements as an estimate for ordering material

Not likely to make a fixture to mount this one, probably will for my other 2 unicycles.

 

For me I got the Giraffe after I saw it in a shop and asked if I could try it. Then rode it first try without riding anything in a few years, I also had a broken arm at the time. But yeah, my 36 is close to being as high, just geared much differently lol

 

Pricing on the brackets? Aluminum only?

 

These first 5 are discounted as they are beta testing, I have one more that is unpaid for at the moment.

They are 1/8" 304 stainless steel powder coated black. PM sent if you are interested

You could make one depending on how heavy of a tricycle you have.

I plan to, probably some time next year depending on how these go. This is just something I'm doing for fun in my spare time, hopefully saving other DIYers a good amount of money. I want to make sure these fit other people's van before I order a bigger batch.

I sold the last of the 5 demo sets that I made. So I am going to wait until I hear that these fit well and no modifications are needed for the design before I order more. Then I will order more and sell them on Etsy. PM me if you are interested and I can update you when they are available.

I'll likely order extruded aluminum to bolt up a frame for a bike rack next. Hoping to be able to carry 2-3 bikes and my trasharoo on this thing.
