If you don't find a trade here, either of you may try approaching a local tradesman driving a Transit XL. The right one may be willing to upgrade their grill for free, especially if you use their services.

fwiw, I swapped my XLT chrome headlights for XL ones, but left the chrome grill in place to give one of our wagons a different look:

Anyone have experience with plastidip on the grill? How long does it last before it starts peeling off?
Other paints or coatings that last longer?

Thanks!

Assuming that the goal is to change the look of the grill and be permanent, any good paint should work well. I've used Krylon with excellent results on several vehicles, a key is good surface prep and painting procedure.

On my 86 Bronco, the black fiberglass top faded to chalky gray after just 4 years in the Florida sun - I repainted it with Krylon Semi-Flat black (my dad told me I was crazy) and it still looked great 12 years later when I sold it. I've had similar results with bumpers, wheels, and grills.

How easy is it to even remove the grill? At first glance, it looks like the lower bumper cover has to come off first. Headlights also but they are easy.

Other than being upside down, this video is helpful. Looks like grill has no body color bits attached.
