I can not believe this My dealer just received 2 transits that were built 16 & 17 days after my transit(12/18/14 & 12/19/14 vs. 12/2/14) and mine sits, paid for, at the rail yard waiting for a railcar to be shipped. I don't care what I have to do this is needs to be explained to me. Pete and crewvanman add this to your list of WTF!!!! The other part of it is one of them is a diesel that THEY DID NOT EVEN ORDER!!!!!!! Ford just sent it to them per the commercial sales manager. If anyone has any info on how to contact anyone who can help me with this please do. The ford regional customer care rep will not even return my calls when he was supposed to call me Tuesday with an update on my van. I am going to call every number I can find for ford today until I get some one who is willing to help me with this. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!

This all does seem like a really bad joke, ya know, I just keep going down my "answer tree" to try and figure out the madness, it all ends up in the WTF? box.

Dear BW5,

I am happy to help, but . . .

I request that we stick to this one thread to follow through. Are you agreeable to staying put here, so that CrewVanMan and others can help sort this out?

You have posts all over the place, and it simply too confusing (for me at least) to jump from thread to thread.

Please confirm.

Thanks,

Peter

PS -- It will be helpful if we can focus on your Transit, and your Transit alone. Philosophical discussions about Ford's system (not?) of prioritizing shipments -- questions of why certain vehicles seemed to jump in line -- etc. etc. -- just muddy the waters IMO.

We shall focus on locating your vehicle, and that's it. OK?

Please post your VIN again, and post an image of your window sticker here, for starters.

Thanks,

Peter

I personally like the "philosophical discussion" angle in addition to anything else that can be done. If nothing else it makes me hesitant to place any order requiring up-front funds. This thread has value to me.

I'll be completely honest, my biggest issue with buying any vehicle from Ford has to do with the company's integrity more than the quality or value of their products. Ford treated me so poorly years ago on an insignificant issue that I went from being a loyal Ford buyer to other brands (mostly Honda). And if Honda made large vans I probably wouldn't be considering Ford.

So years later when I'm starting to think management cultures could have changed at Ford, I read that maybe my enthusiasm may be unwarranted. Maybe Ford still places short-term profits ahead of honoring commitments. In my case it was refusing to honor a written warranty for a few dollars unless I submitted the vehicle to tests that would have costs me many times more. I even agreed to the bogus tests provided they wouldn't charge me if it passed, but they said no. They wanted me to spend hundreds before I could get my legitimate claim which was much less.

Ford effectively voided a legal warranty, and short of taking them to small claims court there was nothing I could do to reason with them. So I promised to get rid of my three Fords and moved on. Now I'm wondering if much has changed.

Well said Chance. To clarify -- I was trying to get BW5 to stay on this thread if he wants my assistance to find his vehicle, that's all. He did mention me by name in his earlier post . . .

I am happy not to help and watch the philosophy fly . . .

Peter, I know where my vehicle is it is sitting at the rail yard waiting for a rail car (1st in, last out BS!) so now because of the railcar shortage it will sit there while more vehicles that have been built later stack up in front of it until the available railcar spots out number the number of vehicles put in after mine. The reason I have not gotten a status report is because it no longer exists! I had to pay for my van before the end of the year for tax purposes. When this happens and the dealer pays ford to get it off their floor plan and my vehicle is considered sold, delivered and in my hands and is taken off the daily status roles and my dealer can no longer track it! The only help I need now is phone #'s, contacts whatever to someone at ford that can help explain this whole fiasco to me and hopefully start the ball rolling to change the way they are treating their customers.

I have your VIN....FKA36159 and it looked to clear ETIS 12/2/2014.
Is your Transit at the Kansas City plant location or the regional distribution center?

Go to your dealer, Maguire Ford, and get them to print the VIN history on your Transit. I need to know where it is NOW......exact location.
Ford has control of the Kansas City plant distribution, but the regional center has control once it is offloaded from the rail car.
If it is at the regional center, they can call and get it delivered by SPECIAL REQUEST.

Going back to your post #9 in this discussion........

There is a STATUS REPORT for your TRANSIT. You may have paid your dealer for it, but not sure they have paid Ford for it yet. Why would they pay them for a vehicle not delivered yet? They just put your money in the bank and waiting on the TRANSIT to get there. For your purpose, you bought it in 2014. Does not mean they paid FORD!
How can they be charged a floor plan on a car not on the lot? PLUS your TRANSIT is NOT DELIVERED!!!!!!

I have asked my Commercial Fleet contact to see what he can do about locating the Transit. Should have a answer by MONDAY or SOONER!

Thanks CrewVanMan, I had a hunch there would still be Status Report available . . .

BW5 here is an image of a type of report to which CVM may also be referring, called "Track a Vehicle -- Full History," which is done for your Transit by its VIN. This image is the one that Sweetb728 posted on her thread:

Sweetb728's thread is here:

Congratulations on the new baby girl! Transit still on the way . . .

CrewVanMan, Both the dealership and my ford customer care reps supervisor said my van has been released to the rail company but has not been assigned a railcar. They also said it is in the 1st in last out loop hole of the shipper. No one can tell me why on 12/5/14 it was all scheduled to be shipped on 12/20/14 and to be delivered at my dealer on 12/26/14 and sometime between 12/5 and 12/22 was all changed to TBD. My dealer has been invoiced and they have paid ford for my van so it is considered delivered by the software and has been removed from the daily status reports. They must now contact the regional rep to see what is happening with my van. (This was also confirmed by the customer care rep supervisor.) I met with my salesman (Commercial sales manager)yesterday. He started in with the same old story about ford and the process and that it is out of his hands blah, blah, blah. I told him that this is the last straw he now had vans sitting on the lot that were built more than 2 weeks after mine one of which you say you did not even order. This not right it is not fair and if I didn't need the van so badly and I hadn't already paid for it I would tell you and ford to eat it. Besides that if the dealers don't complain or make ford aware of this unacceptable behavior when will it ever change? He is now setting a meeting with himself, The overall sales manager, Mr. Maguire, the owner of the dealership and the ford regional sales rep on Monday to see what can be done to get my van here asap. Will see what happens. I would still like any contact info for ford that has to do with how customers are treated by ford when they order a vehicle, because ford customer care is really only for addressing issues after the sale.

Condolences BW5, hopefully Monday will bring some resolution from your dealer's team and/or CrewVanMan's contacts.

What a fiasco . . .

If the dealer tries to get a Track a Vehicle report for your VIN, what error message appears on their computer screen? You might ask for a screen shot of this, just to make sure you are getting the entire story here . . .

PS -- Edit -- please note that this Track a Vehicle report is different from the dealer's daily Status Report. They are two different reports entirely, and in my opinion, SOMETHING should appear on the dealer's computer screen when they try to run a "Track a Vehicle" report for your VIN, similar to Sweetb728's which I posted. Did you click on her link above, and see her report, just so you can print it out, if necessary, to show to the dealer?

Per the post I just did to BW5, I believe you are referring to a "Track a Vehicle -- Full History" report, similar to the one Sweetb728 posted (link above -- Edit link below too). Is this correct?

If so, it would be helpful if we could all start calling this report by its correct name, in order to contrast it from the dealer's daily Status Report which shows ALL vehicle orders placed by that dealer, with each line item relating to a specific Transit by VIN. star gazer posted an example of this recently as I recall. [Edit -- see PS below]

Thus there are two different reports available for each Transit on order IMO:

1. Track a Vehicle -- Full History
2. Status Report

Is this accurate, CrewVanMan? Thanks

PS -- Edit, just to make sure we are on the same page in one post, here are samples of the two reports (click on blue links):

1. Track a Vehicle -- http://www.fordtransitusaforum.com/...ild-date-shipping-date-gone-status-report.png

2. Status Report -- http://www.fordtransitusaforum.com/...sticker-tracking-build-dates-vin-sticker2.jpg

PS2 -- BW5, it would be reasonable to ask your dealer for a printout, or screen shot, of each of these reports (or error messages) for your VIN. As in the nuclear disarmament situation:

Trust but verify . . .

You are correct about the 2 different reports. The one that you show...

Track a Vehicle by VIN is a complete report on that vehicle. It should follow it from the order at the dealer and the creation of a VIN until it is delivered

Daily Status Report is a report generated for the dealer to tell them the status of ALL their vehicles on a SPECIFIC DAY

The dealer can print these reports at any time. Usually just use the Daily Status Report as they can see ALL the vehicles at one time.

Thanks for the confirmation. So what do you think BW5's dealer will see on his computer screen when he runs each report using BW5's VIN?

At least an error message for each?

Shouldn't the Track a Vehicle report still show his Transit as sitting somewhere? If the dealer gets a blank, then somewhere up Ford's corporate ladder SOMEONE should be able to access this information, if the dealer can't?

Thanks

Do you have a local TV station who has a investigative reporter(s) who respond to viewer problems and complaints? If so, contact them and tell them you ordered a Ford Transit, paid for it, and now the dealer tells you that can't help you get it delivered to you.

If you really want to make things happen, have the investigative reporter show up with you and let them hear the same explanation as you get from the dealer. Then it may go on a local report and it can be put out to the masses.

If I was the dealership, I would find a auto transporter and have it picked up directly and delivered to you.

PeterR

This will have more effect on getting his TRANSIT than the constant contact with Ford or their representatives. If the public sees that Ford and their representative dealers do this to PAYING customers, they may skip going to the FORD dealer and look at other competitive vehicles.
