An organization I belong to gave me a PIN for Ford X Plan valid through the end of the year. I plan on ordering a Transit to spec, and am curious how you guys that have been ordering already have been doing relative to X plan. Comparing to MSRP or invoice is one thing, but all I know so far is that X plan is somewhere in between.

X-plan saved me 7% off MSRP and A-plan would have saved about 10%. I see there is a $1,500 customer cash back offer in my region right now.

Remember, if you order, you get the incentives Ford is offering when the vehicle hits the dealer's lot.

X plan pricing varies with each vehicle. Typically it is usually a few hundred dollars on either side of invoice. It is printed on the dealer invoice, as well as A plan(employee) pricing which is a couple or three percent better than X plan.

I've used X plan on two or three vehicles over the years and have been satisfied. Just ask the dealer before anything else whether they accept X plan for the particular vehicle you are thinking of purchasing. They don't have to accept it, but almost all do. No negotiation, no hassle. You still get all the rebates, etc. available at the time of purchase.

But there are those customers who won't use X plan because they enjoy the heat of the battle. They will always claim they got the vehicle for less than X plan. Maybe, maybe not.

I'm still undecided on engine and height, (high roof extended vs mid roof reg body long WB) but yeah, I'll keep that in mind when I order. Also now I have to wonder if a dealer does better for himself on X plan or negotiation, want to know where I'm at while at the table with him.
Pretty much set on the 250, just curious how you decided on the 150 though.

I just negotiated a deal for a high roof 250. I got a little bit off for "x-plan". Since they are in such high demand, they weren't really interested in giving me more than the $1500 customer cash, but I think I got around another $1500 off for x-plan. Plus some more off on the ext. warranty. Van still isn't in, but is due any day now.

were there any other dealers you tried negotiating with or was that the only one?

Well if you are trading in another vehicle you can always take the X-plan and then negotiate for more on the trade in.
You can also look for dealer added extras to have them toss into the deal. For example my dealer has these mud flaps/splash guards with the script Ford in the oval logo in chrome that I like better than the factory ones. It don't matter if I buy a Transit next or an F-150, when we get almost done I'm going to point to those and say "If you toss a set of those in we have a deal". I doubt they will let me walk at that point (and I hope their not reading this!).
