We are looking for someone reputable with experience to install a parking heater in our van. We are not sure of what brand yet, but would appreciate hearing from anyone who has one they like. We are in Southern California, but can go to a nearby state for install if necessary

Not sure what you are using the term "parking heater" to refer to. Can you be more specific?
I believe they mean a heater that works when you have the van engine off. There is a variety of diesel and gas aux heaters that are designed to be used independently of the van engine. They require fuel and 12v. The fuel can come from the van fuel tank or can be an independent heater dedicated fuel tank.

Most popular now seems "cheap chinese diesel heaters" which are a couple hundred bucks and quite economical on fuel usage while keeping the van warm through the night. Lots of posts on this forum and elsewhere.

Yes we are wanting a heater that we can use when camping (engine off), safety is the priority. I know there are several brands available but hoping we can select one that others have been happy with. We have a gasoline engine.

We are still trying desperately to find a pro to install an auxiliary heater in our Transit 250 AWD (gasoline engine). Any recommendations would be really appreciated. I have been hearing about the option to have a diesel gas tank and run the heater with that instead of tapping into the van's tank. Is this really possible and if so has anyone done it or would you recommend it?

Will you be installing a propane tank, either inside or outside? A propane heater is very inexpensive to run if you're also planning propane for a stove and/or water heater. I've used a Propex HS2000 for near two years without issues. It has some quirks but has never left me in the cold and barely sips propane if you aren't trying to maintain sauna temperatures.

Note that I have no experience with gas or diesel versions so I can't compare or contrast.

I let the van interior get cold at night. Depending on how you use the van, what I do might be an option. I use a 12 volt DC $30 rear seat heating pad under the sleeping bag. Works fine to keep body warm at night but my head was cold. On extra cold nights I wear a balaclava to keep the head warm. Seat heater has 3 settings: off, low and high. Low setting was too warm so I installed a recycle timer so seat heater is on 10 minutes and then off two minutes. No noise.

Bought Transit remote start so I can warm van before getting out of bed. Set dash controls for max. heat and select my 750 watt electric air heater that runs when engine runs using the vehicle powered inverter for power.

Did you try Adventure Van Conversion | Gone Mobile Vans | California

They install Webasto heaters and are located in Costa Mesa.

Good luck!
