I am curious to know what the stealth campers are doing for a windshield and side/rear glass curtains/covers. On my E350 I had a windshield cover from my motorhome that I used but It will not work for the Transit for obvious reasons.
Thanks for any ideas

On my sold Sprinter I added 1/4-20NC SS carriage bolts hang the curtains. My wife sewed up double layer cotton curtains with button holes that hung from the carriage bolts. Removed some of the OEM panel plastic rivits and replaced them with pre bulbed "nutserts". Used a serrated flange nut on the carriage bolt to space carriage bolt out from panel. During summer just used the curtains. In winter I added Reflectix between the two pieces of cloth. Worked very well but Reflectix will not roll up so storage was a problem. For Transit I will use the same curtain design but use Thinsulate curtain liner material between the two layers of cloth. They then can be rolled up.

Not very stealth to have the windshield covers. Instead I added a curtain rod at the ceiling just behind the seats for two double cloth curtains. Overlapping joint in center so it was easy to access cab through the curtains.

Hi madmike. I'm thinking of sewing insulated side and rear window covers for inside application. I found quilted aluminized ironing board fabric by the yard from Nancy's Notions.

Quilted Iron Quick Fabric - Special Use Fabrics - Fabric - Nancy's Notions

From the website: ..."Create pot holders, appliance covers, iron totes, curling iron bags, casserole carriers, and more
42" wide. Available by the yard or a 40 yard bolt.

100% aluminum with a 100% cotton backing, polyester batting and polyester/cotton backing.

Heat resistant up to 399 degrees. Machine wash cool/air dry flat or use a damp cloth to wipe clean." ...

So, trim to fit, sew a beading around to seal the edges, tape/glue on some magnets, roll 'em up when not in use. Maybe even add some Reflectix to the outside face.

Im also going to have just some plain fabric curtains for privacy.

Regards, -Rob.

Side and back glass is easy.

Found a tall slot on rear door glass between the glass and the steel frame toward the van centerline. On edge toward the van walls there is also a short slot. Cut Reflectix to cover glass with a long tab on the centerline side and a short tab on edge toward van walls. Taped the edges with Reflectix silver tape. Reflectix just slips into the long slot and a short tab on other edge. Very easy to put on and take off.
The sliding door has a long slot at the back and a short slot on front edge. Same Reflectix window cover with tabs.

I just happened upon this old thread. There is an Ebay business called Down by the River. They are making a magnetic windshield curtain and magnetic front window curtains to fit the Transit. Might be worth checking them out. Prices seemed pretty reasonable.

I'm also looking at this old thread to get a sun shield for the Transit.

Here is the link that is noted by Ripplewear above:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Trans...in-Sun-Shade-Temperature-Control-GREY-Magnets

They show $145 for the front which is reasonable but I have no idea of the quality.

On the high end of the market is Adventure Van at $685.

My family can sew/quilt so I may try the ironing board fabric from JoAnn or their reflective fabric with some magnets.

I purchased rear window covers from this EBay seller back in June and they are fantastic (Vantastic?) https://www.ebay.com/str/downbytheriver Great fit and quality, sewn in magnets work really well and they look professional. One side has a thermal reflective fabric (light grey), the other side is black. Either side can be used. I am currently waiting to find out if the seller can make me more covers for the narrow CR Laurence aftermarket windows I have.

Well worth not having to break out the sewing maching and spending countless hours screwing this up myself.

Good to know as I am chatting with the Down by the River folks about making me a full set that covers
Windshield
Front doors
60/40 passenger side door glass
CR Law Drivers side factory style glass
Rear doors
I will report back pricing, fit and quality once I have them.
