Hah, thanks. The hinges -- 8 pieces of 2 x 1/4 inch bar -- I did think about having them plasma cut, at least. But, I don't know the specialty shops, and figured by the time I ran 'em down and paid, I'd hand cut them myself with a 4 1/2 disc in an angle grinder. Ugh -- not a lot of fun.Wow, EddieZ your passenger "ejector seat" is really a work of art. The folding bed is pretty nifty too, did you have those hinges CNC plasma/laser/waterjetted?
Thanks for the tips on the curtains.
There are slots between the window and the inside door frames. Cut Reflectix to cover the window with tabs that fit into the slots. Taped the edges of the Reflectix with Reflectix silver tape. Simple to install and remove.Hey all, I'm looking for a way to cover the windows for privacy and security. In my trailer I used cheap mini-blinds, but this van is a daily driver and I don't want to listen to them rattle and flap.
What are you using?
That's what I have on all my rear and rear side windows. When I was removing them yesterday (van had been sitting in the sun), the panels were quite warm on the outside but still cool on the inner side. There really is a bit of insulation value with the Reflectix. I also notice when camping in the cold that they are much warmer to the touch than the van skin. Cheap and simple like you say Dave. When not using them I store them flat under my mattress. I leave them installed for the duration of my trip, only removing the ones in the back doors when I'm driving. There are slots between the window and the inside door frames. Reflectix does have insulation value when there is an air gap as there is when used as window covering. Very little value without the air gap. That's what I have on all my rear and rear side windows. I have these all around my van and they are true blackout curtains. The only light that gets by is from above or below where they're hung. They're also quite thick, so they block drafts a little bit. They are quite long and almost reach the floor.hi, I buy some blackout curtains like this: https://www.amazon.com/Jarl-home-Three-Color-Stitching-Blackout/dp/B07HRNFDXZ but they don't work well. The room gets very bright. so I advise you buy the window shade
