Hey all, I'm looking for a way to cover the windows for privacy and security. In my trailer I used cheap mini-blinds, but this van is a daily driver and I don't want to listen to them rattle and flap.

What are you using?

I had some black out curtians made. I bought some black fabric to be shown on the side that faces out and the blackout fabric was white (go figure) to keep the inside a bit less cave like. I had the seamstress sew in rod pockets in the tops so they could be used with a shower curtian rod. I have had them up for about 3 weeks and they work great.
Best of luck with whatever you choose.

Mine are in my build thread: http://www.fordtransitusaforum.com/...50-project-minimalist-kayak-6.html#post220497

I'm not going for blackout... just obscuring view from outside. In fact, I've been driving for several weeks, with the curtains still up in the rear windows. I'm fine with using the mirrors and proximity alarm when backing up.

I may make some light blocking panels out of extra Reflectix, if I decide I need them.

Wow, EddieZ your passenger "ejector seat" is really a work of art. The folding bed is pretty nifty too, did you have those hinges CNC plasma/laser/waterjetted?

Thanks for the tips on the curtains.

I just got back from a week of camping with these and they are awesome!

I have reflectix on the back and rear side windows (full window van), but needed coverage for the slider, the window behind the driver, and behind the front seats. I bought two sets of these blackout curtains (two per package), and it worked out great. Using three 48" bungee cords, I strung two across the front (I tuck one trough the slider grab handle when not it use, keeps it well stowed) and one on each side. They hang just clear of the floor. They come with built in loops so it's super easy to hang them or take them out.
On the front ones, I actually place the curtains up over the front seats to make for a little more room in back. Though I didn't really need them, some potato chip bag clips would be perfect for joining all the curtains together where they meet if you want no gaps.

Hah, thanks. The hinges -- 8 pieces of 2 x 1/4 inch bar -- I did think about having them plasma cut, at least. But, I don't know the specialty shops, and figured by the time I ran 'em down and paid, I'd hand cut them myself with a 4 1/2 disc in an angle grinder. Ugh -- not a lot of fun.

There are slots between the window and the inside door frames. Cut Reflectix to cover the window with tabs that fit into the slots. Taped the edges of the Reflectix with Reflectix silver tape. Simple to install and remove.

That's what I have on all my rear and rear side windows. When I was removing them yesterday (van had been sitting in the sun), the panels were quite warm on the outside but still cool on the inner side. There really is a bit of insulation value with the Reflectix. I also notice when camping in the cold that they are much warmer to the touch than the van skin. Cheap and simple like you say Dave. When not using them I store them flat under my mattress. I leave them installed for the duration of my trip, only removing the ones in the back doors when I'm driving.

Reflectix does have insulation value when there is an air gap as there is when used as window covering. Very little value without the air gap.

When I am done with the conversion the Reflectix panels will be stored behind the fold down "Murphy" bed platform panels. Four 27" wide panels that hinge at the wall and sit on top of the table. Two panels on each side.

hi, I buy some blackout curtains like this: https://www.amazon.com/Jarl-home-Three-Color-Stitching-Blackout/dp/B07HRNFDXZ but they don't work well. The room gets very bright. so I advise you buy the window shade
I have these all around my van and they are true blackout curtains. The only light that gets by is from above or below where they're hung. They're also quite thick, so they block drafts a little bit. They are quite long and almost reach the floor.
I've been really happy with them for four years. I just hang them on bungee cords and put them away when I don't need them.

Blackout Room Darkening Curtains Window Panel Drapes - Black Color 2 Panel Set, 52 inch wide by 63 inch long each panel- 7 Back Loops per Panel, 2 Tie https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R1V33M8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_JwCSnhcZLRx9K
