I thought I read something in the manual about not leaving the seat heaters on or it will drain the battery?

Just wanted to see what you guys thought. I thought all of the new cars killed the power after so many seconds once the car has been locked?

I installed seat heaters just the other day and wired them into an ignition on powered fuse beneath the drivers seat so they wouldn't drain the battery when the vehicle was off. It took a little while to find the proper location, but all in all, it's working as hoped. Got our first snow storm here in Montana yesterday and temps in the teens, stoked for the seat heat.

transitplumber,

Don't know if you have up fitter switches, you could wire them into one of those, when ignition is off, seats would be off. The other option is that 4 plug connector in the center console, believe a couple of the connections are the 12v that goes off after 30 minutes or so after ignition is off.

I'm pretty sure I read about this in the owner's manual? But I've read so much this last week... can't recall what it was talking about if not the heated seats? Yep page 107 "The heated seat remains on until you switch it off. If the heated seat is on when you switch the ignition off, it will be on when you switch the ignition back on. Note Do not switch the heated seat on unless your vehicle is running. This prevents the vehicle battery from running out of charge."

Ignition Powered Fuse Location?

Please PLEASE Provide pics/Fuse Location and number beneath the drivers seat!!!
I am working on installing heated seats and haven't been able to locate an ignition controlled wire to tap for the relay.

It appears I have a short in my seat heater unit. It works for about a week and then shorts out, so need to do some testing to determine if the fault is in the heating element or my wiring. That being said, I found a ignition on power source beneath the driver seat in the front right corner. Looks to be the C33-E connection as shown on page 117 of the BEMM. Haven't had a moment to take the seat out to look at it closer, which is unfortunate cause we are about to have high temps of -4 next week. I recommend testing some of the fuse locations beneath the seat, you should be able to come up with something. Good luck

You have to use the correct order code to get the heated seats. Just getting the 10 way power seat option does not get you the heated seats.

The complete information is located on page 10 of the revised 2017 Ford Transit Order Guide.

21E Pewter Grey Cloth with 10 way power driver & 2 way manual passenger...NO HEATED SEATS

21F
Charcoal Cloth with 10 way power driver & 2 way manual passenger...NO HEATED SEATS

21H Pewter Leather with 10 way power driver & front passenger seats...HEATED SEATS

21Q Pewter Grey Cloth with 10 way power driver & front passenger seats...HEATED SEATS

21R Charcoal Cloth with 10 way power driver * front passenger seats...HEATED SEATS

Be sure to read page 10 of the revised 2017 Ford Transit Order Guide and see all the exceptions listed where the heated seats are not available.

This is really ambiguous. One would hope that the heated seats do not operate unless the ignition switch is on. In the manual they tell you that the heat will be on when you switch the ignition on (if the heater switch is on). They don't say weather the heat is on if the heat switch is on and the ignition is off. That would be bad!

Not sure if the Transit is the same as the F150 so this may be incorrect info. If I turned on my seat heaters it simply meant that the next time I turn the key to on, they will begin to heat the seats. When the key is off, they did not. I believe the warning may be that in the on/acc key position they will come on unless you manually turn them off. Ironically, in my F150 (now gone) if I turned on the rear window defoggers, they would do the same thing.

they are on when the ignition switch is on if the seat switch is in the on position. If you turn the ignition switch to the off position the seats will be off even though the seat switch is in the on position. The seats can not drain the batteries if the ignition switch is off.

That makes sense... now... can they be retro-fitted to a 2015? I wonder.

The nice thing about an actual switch, that turns the seats on when the ignition is on, is that one can remote start the vehicle, with the seats pre-heating as well. Toasty. My other car has a button, that must be depressed once the vehicle is running. The default is "off" no matter what the setting was at when the car was running. So no pre-heating the seats with just a remote start.

Can you tell me where you bought the heated pads for the seats and how did you install them please?

I bought the seats on Amazon, pretty cheap, which probably explains why one of them already shorted out... Fortunately the passenger seat works, so the mrs. is still happy. I wouldn't recommend the Water Carbon Premium Heated Seats on Amazon. The company refused to acknowledge my emails for replacement and quite frankly I don't look forward to pulling the old one out to install a new one.
