Question: Does anybody know what these things are for?

The first is a little bag of metal tubes that's stashed in a compartment in the passenger side doorstep; the second is a little pocket/compartment that's only accessible when the door is open; you close the door, the pocket vanishes beneath the dash.

Possibly n00b questions, but I can't figure out what either of them are for... :s :s :s

Any ideas?

The blue bag is for your jack, it's the handle for it. Hopefully I'll never use it. As far as the little pocket, no clue for it's use but don't put your cell phone in there, unless you want to turn it into a flip phone that doesn't work very well.

VanMan36,

Like wgc said, the blue bag is for your jack. Nobody really knows what the door pocket is really for, consensus over time is that it is to hide smaller items that you don't want to leave in view, when you are out of the vehicle. But again, defintely not a cell phone pocket.

Wow, okay, thanks everybody. Now, dumb question number three: the van comes with a bottle jack? Where is it?
If you don't see a big yellow thing in the right/rear of the van, then, it's under the passenger seat. Position varies with a few models and options packages.

There's actually a video out of a guy whining because he had put his big, new Apple phone in that hidden pocket, and closed the door, and broke the phone nearly in half. He was blaming Ford, for having made him do that.

Wow.

I actually put my iPhone 6 Plus in there, but realized right away it wasn't going to clear the dash.

It's a cool feature, I just can't figure out what to put in that space.

I have a Sirius XM Onyx Plus external tuner that is removable from its dock. This is a stock photo of what it looks like; mine is down by the cupholders in the center console.

It fits perfectly, when removed from the dock, in that pocket. Makes it easy to hide from someone looking in for things to steal.

Transit vans were built first and foremost as commercial fleet vehicles I'm pretty sure the strange little door pocket that disappears under the dash is for fleet maintenance cards and fleet fuel cards. If you drop your driver's license or credit card in there you'll see it's a perfect fit and those cards are assigned to vehicles not to drivers. This would give a standardized location in every vehicle to secure them.
That's my guess anyway
