Thought I would get some insights from you guys on what is good and/or bad about the forum. What do you appreciate about the forum and is there anything that bothers you?

Just curious.
Dislike not being able to post pictures or drawings of my conversion or as soon as everyone runs out of the meager data allotment I will not be able to see what others have done. Dumb.

I'm not a fan of the massive Parts Needed thread. Each part for sale or needed should be an independent thread in a child forum of Ford Transit Marketplace. There is already one called Want To Buy & Looking For, not sure why thats not used instead.

morey,

The Thread "Parts Needed / Available", does not eliminate any Threads or posts, in bringing a post to it's Thread. The original post and Thread is still there. It just duplicates the info into another thread. And by bringing info to that sight it puts everything wanted or available in one place.

But, as you may have noticed, all Threads aren't displayed forever on the Forum. If someone wants to find something it makes it simpler to look in one Thread than try to remember the names of all the other threads with parts, especially since most members don't understand how to find missing threads.

If you don't want to use it, you aren't required to.

stepping in it

Good:
The old saying Moderators should be seen, but not heard seems to be applied here. For the most part that's a good thing because it lets the forum "flow like water" and seek it's own level.

Bad:
It detracts when anyone tries to "police" posts (members will eventually learn to use the search function on their own ;-] ) and often discourages new members from posting.

Not so ugly:
The the forum software is fairly standard (vBulletin) and will do a lot (see: BB Code ).

Personally, I've taken to uploading my photos to a server I have control over ~ for a number of reasons. If for no other reason ~ because they are mine and to use a forum I have to live with the TOS (see: TERMS & CONDITIONS OF USE ) and it gives me some control over how they are displayed.

Appreciated:
All the useful information contributed by the members and verticalscope.com for providing the fordtransitusaforum.com forum.

Dislike: Not being able to edit posts after a short period of time.
ultane,

Edit time increases with how long you have been a member of the Forum and I imagine with participation. Ex; I am able to edit my posts from yesterday. See post # 5, this Thread.

The Picture thing is stupid -
if the year was 1999 and we were using AOL it would be ok-
but its 2015 and Photobucket and similar are everywhere -

Im a member of over 10 forums and Everyone of them I
can easily post pictures and video - links -

The limited time to edit a post is silly -

the overuse of the Quote by some users makes reading things time consuming
and sometimes confusing -
In years of being on forums I have used the Quote function maybe 5 times -
I have about 7000+ posts -

If this forum continues to with the same picture policy it will be Toast soon -
I will move on to a different forum if picture situation remains the same -

The things I Like is the Search function actually works good on this forum-
People on this forum are Friendly and Knowledgeable -

Is there another choice that we can move to? The inability to communicate with pictures and drawings makes this forum useless for my needs. I would like to learn from other peoples conversions so I can improve mine. No pictures means no opportunity to learn.

GROOVY2,

Photobucket - can easily post pictures and video - links -

Have you tried the different options for posting that can be changed in the User CP / Settings & Options / Edit Options / Miscellaneous Options / Message Editor Interface?

[Copy and Paste=Edit Options - ]
Message Editor Interface
When posting messages to the forums or other members, there are three interface types available to you. The simplest of these is a simple text box, while the last is a fully-fledged WYSIWYG editor, which allows you to format your text as you want it and see the results immediately.

Depending upon the capabilities of your web browser, you may not be able to use all of these options. If you experience problems when posting messages, try switching to a different interface type.

Editing and Deleting your Posts
Can I edit or delete my posts?
If you have registered and are logged in, you may be able to edit and delete your posts (although the administrator may have turned off this option). Your ability to edit your posts may be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum.

Why not start an information wanted/available thread? We'd only need two threads for the forum and people could find everything. >:D

What does how long someone has been a member have to do with ones ability to edit a post over certain amount of time. Misspelled words can be found much later than when they are originally posted.

ultane,

Have no idea, was just answering your question with what I have found. If the answer doesn't help you, hopefully someone else will give you a better one.

No worries.. It just seems silly to me. Imadufus sometimes, and misspell things that neither I nor autocorrect detects. Then I find the error, and my CDO kicks in, and I can't even correct it.

The only reason I can think of is to let long time contributors appear to have a better grasp of spelling and grammar than the NooBs even if they really don't. Still scratching my head over that one. I'm going to try to fix "Noobs" in 24 hours just to see if my year and a half here has earned me any special privileges.
Van Man you still around? EAA next week?

I'll be in Scholler ......Woods 101 about half way from the smaller camp store to the beer tent along the mud road, not the gravel one. Same spot for the past 26 years straight.
Last year VanMan stopped by a few times for some Brats & Brew, you should too!
Just look for the same set-up, only Silver high roof EL Transit instead of the old Sprinter. Same trailer and tarp still.
