Yesterday we put our order in for a Caribou, 150 Wagon with Eco Boost, Nav system, 8 passenger, leather 10 way driver/passenger seats and some other extras. We are excited to see that they are already starting the 2016's. Especially after seeing that people were ordering the 16's all the way back in May. We tried to order a 2015 two weeks ago and we were told we would have to get the 16. That was fine however, for some reason our Fleet dealer could not do it that day. We waited over 2 weeks....not happy. But it is now ordered. We were told it would be 8-10 weeks (with a rush order). Hoping with the earlier assembly line start that we might get it sooner rather then later so I can take it on a trip at the end of Sept.

Aussie Mom, Congrats on the order. But if I were you I'd make plans for something else to drive for your vacation. We have members that ordered the first week of June and the build date is early-mid September. Then the dreaded sit in the parking lot waiting transportation to destination. Rush order is a new one, think the salesman is pulling your leg. However maybe if it's a high volume dealer it will get there a tad sooner. You may want to look at the thread " VIN received for 2016 MY Transit". People are posting there order dates, VIN numbers and expected build dates. Good luck and once again congrats.

Oh, I already know 2 things, 1....the "rush" is probably for our benefit only and 2....that I will be driving my trade in vehicle on my trip. Had I realized sooner that I wanted one of these vehicles I would have ordered months ago. We would have ended up with a 2015 and the color I wanted. But now, I am settling on a color I can live with and I am getting a better SYNC/NAV system. I am telling myself that things happen for a reason and I will be patient. Good things come to those who wait right??

Besides the color I'll be ordering almost the same vehicle. Congrats and can't wait to see some pictures when it arrives.

What expected time did they give you for delivery??? Congrats on making the leap. I told my husband we should hold a pool as to when it will show up. Dealer told us 8-10 weeks.....every thing we have read on here says it will be much longer.

I can't even remember what the dealer said; I have more confidence in the people on this forum. With the retail production of the Transit to start on 8/10 and orders from early May, it'll take some time.

Sept 30 was 10 weeks since we ordered our van. It is on the rail car and headed to CA. Hoping it is here next week. Our dealer told us 8-10 weeks so they did pretty good at estimating. The build date was 9/16 and they had it on the rail car in about a week. I am happy so far.

Mine was ordered July 31 and built on Sep 24. Dealer would have had an update earlier this week. I'm still waiting for his email. Did the dealer tell you that your van is on the rail car?

Have you asked your dealer for his or her "Full History" report for your VIN, as suggested in the following Build Complete thread and post?

http://www.fordtransitusaforum.com/...on/6297-build-complete-delivery-time-lag.html

http://www.fordtransitusaforum.com/150362-post170.html

It shows line by line the rail car location each time your Transit gets closer. I know, as my rail car was stuck in Ohio for almost 2 weeks getting repaired!

I did ask for a daily update of their daily status report. Now I'll ask for a Full History report for my VI

Excellent! Also I just started a new Build Complete/Delivery Time Lag Two thread, so that everyone with similar delivery questions can pool their efforts and share information, in case you want to post there.

Thanks, and good luck with your build. You have some creative ideas, as I recall . . .

Thank You for your post and new thread. It's sometimes difficult to communicate with a dealer, if you can't cite the exact procedures.

I don't want to say I'm creative, but like to approach my van conversion sceptically and make changes to the common design, where appropriate.
It'll be a slow conversion, as I will document it in great detail and use input from others. My first LIVE discussion will be Wednesday, October 7th, 2015 @ 4 PM EDT.

Yes, on Sept 26th he sent us an email that his tracker showed it on the rail car and on the way. He said he would let us know when it arrived. It is the first time in the whole process that we did now have to ask him for information. Was surprised to get his email actually.

AussieMom,

Have the dealer check the full history report multiple times daily. It is updated everytime the rail car your Transit is on, passes a railroad check point. It then updates the report. That will let you both track it and know when it is close.

No wonder the dealers don't have time to call back & answer my questions while shopping for a Transit...

I get what you mean, but when I go to a dealer, there are always several salesmen waiting to hook you for a deal. That time should be spent more wisely, certainly if you just spent $40.000 or $50.000.
In my case, if they tell me to expect an email on a certain day, I expect one, even if there's no news.
By the way, they still haven't reacted.

Tourneo,

Let's see. Phone caller who you've never seen and will most likely never come in and ask for you by name, if they buy. Or, someone you've already met and has signed on the dotted line who is going to make you a commission. Which do you want to keep happy? >:D

I can speak from experience. I'm going on 18 months since my first ordered 2015 fully equipped T 350. After walking away from the 2015 on 10/11/14 that was ordered in April of 2014 because Ford did not equip it as ordered, reordered a 2016 in May was built on 9/11/15 was shipped on 9/16 by rail to NJ. AND NOW IT SITS IN A RAIL CAR IN NEWARK NJ FOR 10 DAYS. LESS THEN AN HOURS DRIVE FROM MY DEALER.. GOTTA LOVE THE UNIONS... Sorry no love lost here for any Union.
