I took delivery last Friday so I have been driving my new Transit for almost a week now. I am very happy with the van. It definitely handles better then the Econolines that I have driven for the last 20 years, and it surprisingly does not get pushed around by the wind as easily either! I have a medium roof, medium length, and I am very impressed with the way the van drives and handles.

It has been very cold this week in Michigan and I am glad that I got the rear AC/heater option. I had to drill a few holes in the bottom of the aftermarket cab partition so the heat can blow into the rear of the van from the rear heater which is located under the passenger's seat. I have also been plugging in my engine coolent heater, and the engine definitely warms up faster. It is going down to -15 degrees F tonight!

I had the remote start run-time increased from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. The tech also made it so the engine doesn't shut off when I open the door to get in!

I'm going to invest in winter tires next year because I drive my van light on the rear.

The van is a pleasure to drive and I definitely recommend the Transit! It was definitely worth my 4 month wait!

Did you have those changes done at the dealership ora3rd party for the remote start?
Yeah, that seems like a boneheaded move by Ford. What's the point of remote starting the van if it shuts off when you open the door? Seems like a great way to drain the batteries.

My 2009 G8 GT has an "Engineering Mode" for the onboard computer, there is a sequence of holding buttons on the steering wheel and turning the key to the "on" position to access the engineering menu and allow the customization of things like the remote start duration, keyless lock and alarm settings, oil and trans sump temps, fuel consumption in litres per hour, etc.

I can't recall if this information was in the owners manual or not. I think I read about it on a forum, but it's a great way to tailor these functions to the owners liking.

Ford must have the same functions.
