Mine got 'sealed' by the paneling. But, really should not be sealed. Those are the one-way pressure relief vents, for door closing and ventilation exit. Some paneling kits have slots or perforations in that area, to allow air flow. I will add holes, if I ever have my panels off. But, not a huge deal, since I have my roof vent open about half the year, anyway.

I'd also question the need for a "moisture barrier" as Murphy's definition of "waterproof" should be fully considered.

Definition, as per Murphy: waterproof - once water gets in it can no longer get out

Is that really what you want in your side panels?

Personally, I believe that they should breathe. Barometric pressure changes WILL move moist air into those spaces as easily as it does into things like aircraft fuel tanks, and condensation WILL occur, resulting in moisture accumulating on the things you are trying to protect from it.

Don't try to fight Murphy or Mother Nature, the deck is stacked in their favor.

On bottom of van, there are two square holes covered with plastic caps. If those caps are removed, can air flow to the vents pictured in first post?

_TO_ the vents pictured... no. Substitute for them... sorta, since you would just be using holes (which open into your D pillar), rather than 1-way vents.

Actually yes, And no, The inside of the D-pillar about 16 inches above the floor opens up into the wall.

The bottom of the D-pillar is a square tube, The upper 2/3 of the D-pillar is a C-shaped channel.
