So, it appears that KBB is off on the values of the Transit wagons, but I may be wrong. We have a 2016 XLT EB that was 48k new (paid less than that) but according to KBB it's now only worth 26-28k after 6 months.

Does anyone have an idea if this is in the ballpark or how we can more effectively track our vehicle's value?

I know it will depreciate but that rate seems excessive.

I've been pricing used 2015 and 2016 passenger vans for a few months. The "street value" differs from the calculated value.

Mid roof passenger vans with 5-20k miles are at $25k on the low end to $34k at the high end asking price. Most fall right about $30k. Since the NEW vans have several thousand dollars of incentives, and sell for about $1000 more than invoice, a NEW mid roof passenger van with some options sells for $35-37k off the lot. That drives down the price for used vans. When I buy, I will only get a used van with less than 15k miles and only spend $25k or less, because that's the deals I've been seeing.

In doing a good bit of research I was seeing a depreciation of about 8k for LR models in the first year and around 7k for MR/HR. The rates seemed to level out to about 6k for the second year. In shopping a MR 3.5EB with around 15k ran around $31,000 - $34000 which is about the same retail price you stated with depreciation. The private seller/trade-in value would be around $26,000-29,000 accordingly.

I assume when you say getting a used van you mean either LR wagon or MR/HR cargo?
That's around what we paid for our LR.

A week ago, I bought a 2015 MR Wagon, XLT so 148" with 26K in great condition for $25,400 and I think I got an amazing deal. There were two people there that day to buy it while we were still at the dealership. Key Auto in Somersworth, NH.

Hi Janice, we looked there and never saw anything in that range (for a MR) a couple months ago. We bought ours from their sister store in Portsmouth. Does your have the tow package, backup cam, and 12 or 15 passengers?

Hi. It had 12 seats (I kept 4), back up camera, it has the towing capacity but not a hitch or anything added equipment. I think they will sell MR for $28,000 going forward; they'd only had it for 6 days. I saw 3 other MR with similar pricing; one in FL, one in NC, and one in Portsmouth but that one had 77. All others were $28-32,000.

Most of the used Transits come through the Ford closed sales at the area dealer auctions. They come from rental units, lease units from Ford or private leasing companies, and Ford corporate units. I have been watching them weekly through the Manheim auction site and the selection is getting better as the lease units start showing up. The rental units are pretty basic LR 3.7L with 12 passenger seating.

Some Ford dealers are getting aggressive in buying the Transits through these auctions. If you have a good relationship with your dealer, have them check these auctions for the current Transits at their local auction and online at the other related auctions.

No, I am referring to 148 MR 350XLT wagons. If you use Car Guru, it shows most of the used wagons for sale on lots all across the country. Range is $25-35k for 2015/16 vans with under 30k miles. Obviously some deals are better than others.
