i bought a 2016 short wheelbase, medium roof transit this summer.
went through consumer reports, which was awesome. you just put in what you want (i didn't want any extras) and three dealerships email you with offers. did all the negotiation via email. yay!
i am going to make it a minimalist camper.
i made curtains for behind the seats. and put one of those rubber mats on the floor.
a friend of mine is helping me with the bigger projects.
so far we installed a Fantastic in the roof and a 4" drain hole in the floor. and a swivel for the passenger seat. we discovered a 4 ton jack under there. luckily you can still access it with the swivel seat installed.
i am still working on the details of the solar setup. i am thinking of going with a DC only system because I am mainly just going to run the fantastic and a little fridge off it. i have a small goal zero setup for charging laptop and cell phone.
i am leaning towards flexible solar panels because they could be mounted on a roof rack and i can still use it for occasional light loads like a kayak.
and lithium battery.
