Hi all,

A week or so ago I ordered my van. Besides the tdi my wife drives this will be my first new car. I come from a econoline conversion and am looking forward to the EB motor and the added headroom.

What I ordered:
2016 MR 3.5EB 148" cargo, magnetic 3.31 limited slip
Charcoal 10way cloth
101A trim xl group
AC
Complete floor vinyl
Passenger side flip out glass
Trailer tow package with TBC
Long arm power/heated mirrors
Rear window defogger
Radio prep with 6 speaker
HD alternator, Dual batteries
Upfitter switches
Remote start
Running boards
Illum. Visors
Cargo package- led lights
Additional keys

Sorry for the long list. I'm really looking forward to getting it and starting my build. I'll be doing a raised bed, galley with sink and foot pump, possibly solar. Slide out rear tray for mountain bikes and other adventures.

I'll keep you updated when it arrives.

You are going to love the Magnetic Metallic paint. Looks amazing and it rarely ever looks dirty. You get the added bonus that the small strip of paint on the bottom matches very nicely with all the black plastic on the van. You pretty much don't even notice the paint towards the bottom of the sides it just blends right in. Not so sure about the long arm mirrors. Those things are monsters. If you are towing something they might come in handy but it you are just driving the van around then the short arm heated mirrors work perfectly. I actually really like the look of the Medium roof but needed the tall roof for my more headroom. I wish the Medium was taller or the high roof was a little shorter. Overall you're going to love the van. It's my daily driver and with the Eco Boost it is just plain fun to drive around all day. Welcome to the club.

Deadwood,

Thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to seeing the magnetic in person.
Yeah I know he mirrors are long. I installed some longer tow mirrors on my e250 and while I don't like stowing them against the body to prevent damage, I do like all the extra versatility they provide. If I don't like them I can always order some short ones.
Waiting for the arrival and planning the build.

Still waiting on my build, about a month from now.
I got some sienna seats for captains chairs in the back. I'm starting to stockpile some parts in my basement.
Today I ordered the Rial Transporter wheels and 225/75-16 duratrac tires. I'll take the wheels and have them powder coated.

Until next time.

Things are starting to pile up in the basement. Van should be built next week and then we wait for transport.

We will see how it all looks on the van soon. I initially was going to powder coat the wheels a dark color but id like to see how they look on the van in silver first.

I have the alloys. Would prefer black powder coat. The nice alloys rarely look clean due to brake dust issues.

Congrats on the customer order. It should be coming anytime. I ordered my van the first week of Feb and received it about the last week in April.

How are you planning to mount the seats you bought?

I'm going to use L track that is rated for seats. It will be evenly spaced so you can place the four seats as they are sitting now, or one in the middle as long as I can get the layout to work with the floor and the "frame" and whatnot underneath.

I'll have to weld up some bases to work with the L track hardware.

Congrats on your new van!

Looking at the window sticker I had a build date projected at 5/20/16. I'm guessing it is still in quality control or something, and might see some change on etis early next week.
I'm looking forward to the delivery date. Just a few more items to get before it arrives!
I've seen some west coast deliveries take 2 weeks and others that were a month. I'll keep you all updated and post pics when it arrives.

It's all in my head. When I get the transit in hand I will put some permanent ideas down.
The slide will be the same size as the footprint of the raised bed, except it will only be as wide as the door opening in back.
This will allow me to get stuff out without crawling over other items to get to what I want. There will be some storage on the sides where the tray does not cover. I'm working out those areas.
I have it market out in my basement on the floor. Again when the van arrives and I have a better feel for he space vertically I will finalize the plans.

It seems like your van should be showing up any day now.

I'm very interested to see how your seat installation turns out. I will be doing a raised split folding bed platform which will be attached to the walls using L-track with fold down support legs. I'm planning to use honeycomb aluminum sheet for the primary platform surface so it's light and strong.

I've wondered if I shouldn't have gotten the rear A/C prep package and maybe done a custom rear A/C setup. The problem I had was knowing exactly what I might be getting and sourcing an A/C outfitter that could handle it.

I had similar thoughts about the radio prep package but wondered about the quality of speakers included. I'll be interested to know what you think of them and how it turns out.

Looking forward to the build pix!
