I have a 2011 Transit Connect with 67000 miles. I noticed lately a thumping noise coming from my right rear brake. It only makes this sound as the van starts to really slow down. I brought it to the shop and they said the shoes and drums look great. They cleaned the dust out, lubed the pivot points and adjusted the shoes. But the noise is still there. I brought it back and the tech pulled up on the parking brake while going 15mph and stopped the van without any noise.
So I drove home, still having the thumping noise. I got under the van and moved the brake line by hand and heard a very similar sound. The brake line has a metal flex tube which when moved by hand, makes a sound very similar.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks ~ John
