We ordered a long wheelbase xlt. One of our reasons for ordering rather than getting something in stock was that we were told it was no problem to order it with a two seat bench in the second row. It turns out they didn't bother doing that and instead ordered the standard 12 passenger configuration with a three seat bench in the second row. It's been ordered with ford for about a week and they have our deposit. Is there anything we can do to get them to change it?

Wanted to add that they're also saying the bench is fixed, we can't remove the seat closest to the door. We've been in one setup like this and didn't like it as it makes it awkward to get little kids into carseats. We want the open aisle. They said the only way to get that is to order a ten passenger which isn't big enough. It just doesn't make sense that the exact same vehicle can have a two seat bench in that spot but only if the other rows are different.

They can go back and change it as long as the order is not LOCKED IN to production. That is why you need someone that knows about the Transit and what can be done. Some dealers and salespersons will tell you anything to get your order, then TOUGH STUFF.

If they could not change it, I would cancel the order. Call Ford Customer Service and ask for a Ford Transit specialist. My guy at North Point Ford knows about these Transits as he has already ordered some for local churches and sometimes they ask for specific configurations on the seating.

I called the general customer service number and was basically told too bad, each dealer is an independent business. The did say they could put in comments or feedback or something like that about the dealer but I don't really want to make them mad at me while they still have a chance to fix it. I really think the salesman was telling me what I wanted to hear to get me to sign. This was after we agreed on a price via email and I was ready to sign for it and just happened to notice that they were trying to sell me the regular wheelbase rather than the long which would have left us without any cargo space. Then they upped the price several thousand dollars if I still wanted the long one (the information I gave them said 12 passenger, they say they thought that was regular wheelbase with extra seats and not the one with 12 seats standard). They weren't so happy when they realized I wasn't willing to pay sticker price like they thought they were going to get. It felt like bait and switch.

Anyway, the fleet manager is looking into it rather than the salesman. He seems to know a lot more about the transits. Hoping they can figure something out. I'm not sure I want to wait for a special order when I can get a sprinter in stock with the same three seats blocking the door area.

I just looked at the brochure. Looks like they may be right, but you probably have plenty of time to change the order.

From previous posts, it appears that all the seats are removable just not quickly. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I am planning on taking out all the seats and putting the 3 row double seat in the 2nd row 3 seat position. So if this is not possible, I need to know before I order.
