I have two factory switches, one on either side of the steering column. The switch on the left controls the Traction Control System. The switch on the right controls the heated mirrors. Each side also has a switch blank, a cover where an additional switch could be installed. I popped out one of the blanks thinking I could order a factory switch and use it to control a pair of fog lights. To my surprise the switch blank had a plug with 4 wires attached. The other switch blank was just that, blank. No plug. No wires. Does anybody know what these wires are for? Possibly wired to a relay?

The switch blank below the TCS switch is for a Park Assist switch. It shows a part number for this switch as CK4Z15A860A

On the right side above the mirror switch is the rear defroster switch(if you have this option).

Moot,

Like CVM said. If the wiring is on the blank on the left, it would turn off, temporarily, the beeping sound, if the rear sensors had detected something (like if you were backing up with a trailer etc). It would automatically reset next time you turned on the ignition. If you don't have the rear sensors, don't know if they are actually connected to anything or if it was just cheaper to make all the dash areas similar.

You can put your own type / color of switch in one of those blanks, to control whatever you want. Doesn't have to be a factory switch. I have a round, green illuminated switch in the one above my heated mirror control (to control the rear fog lamp).

Thanks for the comeback guys! I thought it would look nice to get a factory switch to control fog lights. I haven't priced one yet. When I get some time I will try and trace the wires to see where they lead. USMC, did the round switch or was it oval fit in the void after removing the blank? Can you post a picture of your switch or give some more details?

did you ever track those wires down from the plug that was present in the parking aid? I thought about adding aftermarket sensors....would be nice if those ran back to the rear bumper...

Thanks for resurrecting this thread. I recently bought the defroster switch (cheaper than the others) to use to turn on/off my rear view camera. I already put an aftermarket switch under the steering column near the fuse box to control the rear cargo lights, but I wanted a switch that would fit in the dash space. Was wondering where I could get a harness to fit the switch, now I know.

Any indication on the switch you bought as to the switch contact current rating?
Just curious about how much current these switches can handle?

I pulled the blank out under my TCS switch and it's completely blank. Bummer.

Sorry, I don't know. I'll look and see if there's any info written on it or the plastic bag it came in if I still have it.
