I have a Transit 250. I wanted just a Transit 150 because I don't need the additional GVWR but that didn't work out. Since there's not much cargo weight and never will be, relatively speaking, I'd like to soften up the rear suspension. The ride in the back is just too harsh and stiff. I see where it only has 2 leafs on each side for the rear suspension and it's my understanding that the stiffness of the leaf springs is all that separates the 150, 250 and 350. I'd like to know how many leafs are on the 150 and if anybody has found a way to soften up the ride.

I too found the ride too harsh. It has a lot to do with tire pressure also. The dumbest setting of running tires at max cold psi.

When I got my transit the tires were all at 80 psi. I lowered them to the sticker amount of 49 front.71 rear. It was better. Then I got tired of the harsh rear ride. So I lowered the back to 60. This is where the light comes on. It was better again. Then I lowered the rear to 50. Now it's sooooo much better. I have a light all the time.

I'm knowledgable of tire contact patch and whats appropriate for tire pressure from my aircraft days. At 50 rear PSI and "my loads" it is a good contact patch. Not too low. Actually looks just like the front tires at 49 psi.

I'm going to have to learn to live with the light and warning I am low pressure. Which already I barely notice it.

Try softening the tire pressure and see how it feels. Just remember if you do put a load in there, you need to up the pressure until the contact patch resembles the front tires again. It's a good example using the front tires.

Suitcase, I'd say that's how it's done then. 1 leaf for the 150, 2 for the 250 and then maybe 3 for the 350 (maybe someone with a 350 will chime in on this). Suitcase, would you mind getting down there for a pic then posting it?

Thanks
