Does any one run studded winter tires on their van?
I'm used to driving a 4wd vehicle in winter and am not sure for a rear wheel van that won't have much weight in the back (small children) whether just winter tires will work OK, or if studded are that much better

Are they legal in your state?

There's only a few specific situations where a studded winter tire might be better than a studless winter tire (glare ice at 32F). But for driving on bare and dry roads, or just wet slushy roads, the studless tire will perform much better. Along with being quieter and not tearing up the roads.

If states like Minnesota and Wisconsin can get through winter without studded tires (banned), then anyone should be able to.

I run 4 studded tires on my van every year. I have done this for 20 years with very good luck.
I live in Iowa and it is legal here
When they were legal in my state, I used them every winter. Now there's some traction, especially on ice.
