"Subscribers to Elon Musk’s Starlink internet service can now carry their connectivity with them to remote areas as part of a new portability feature that the company announced this week.
In an email to its customers, SpaceX’s Starlink rolled out the new feature for a fee of $25 a month, in addition to the service’s regular $110 monthly subscription fee."

Btw, for those that may be interested, Casey Handmer's blog has provided some detailed Starlink information and analysis over the past few years like this and this .

moved location 100 miles - set up dish
this time I had to put password on wifi -
once password done - dish aimed to north - connected - Nice

my friend is in NV in middle of nowhere -
Real high winds - his dish blew over -
Now staked down stand with tent stakes -
he said one gust almost blow over van -

This year its been windy Every Day - all day / night long -

for traveling made a mount that holds folded dish up against ceiling -
used bungee cord between 2 eye bolts in ceiling rib holds dish -
flat part of dish against wood ceiling board -
small safety rope around dish stem to hold in place -

dish is pretty light and will be easy to hang up or
use the stem of dish to mount into wood block with hole -

thought about mounting inside rear door against glass -

Also wonder if dish will work threw glass - windshield -
that would be great if that works -

We had some heavy rain squalls that briefly took my starlink out yesterday. Less rain than it took to take out my Viacrap satellite connection. One thing for viacrap is it took crazy heavy rain to take it out. Sucked in all other regards though. Starlink outage wasn't for long though. I think it was because of some hail in the mix.

Wood Gadget Audio equipment Electrical wiring Gas

this is ceiling mount for dish -
loop of bungee cord to 2 eye bolts in roof rib holds dish
flat against ceiling - white safety rope around dish stem -

my dish has not gone threw rain yet - just strong wind and thick dust -
in last month van has gotten dusted more than 3 yrs combined -
have been wondering if ground mounting if dust will get into movement -
so far seems fine -

One thing that would be good to have is a Cover that goes over plug on cable
when not in use - keep dirt out of cable end when setting up /down -

Last week I drove my Transit ~10 hours into SW Oregon, way up a mountain road til it ended, then hiked ~10 miles into the Kalmiopsis Wilderness Area. Set up camp at dusk, made dinner, then rolled out my pad to sleep.

As I snuggled into my bag, admiring the clear, starry skies, a string of Starlink satellites stretched ~halfway across the sky in an eastward procession.

It was, honestly, one of the most disgusting things I have yet seen in my 52 years on this planet.

It seems in our headlong rush for convenience there is literally nothing that we won't sacrifice.
