just for the **** of it. I'm 6' 3". While the seat was comfortable, there was no legroom and my feet felt trapped in the pedal area. The steering wheel angle is a joke.

What was surprising is that we just came back from 2 weeks in Europe and there where more of these things on the road than Sprinters or anything else. Surprisingly few Transits. So I figured I would see if was missing something. I wasn't.

And that's why there's different choices out there since folks like different stuff. ;) When I sat in a Transit, it felt like I was in my friend's Ford Focus; I don't want my van to feel like a car.

I too found the PM's pedal area a bit tight, to start with. Then I realized the seating position is more like sitting in a dining chair (legs down) instead of a beach chair (legs out). Adjusted to sitting like that, works great for me now.

I will agree the steering wheel is a bit of a reach. Its not the angle that's a problem, its the reach. But again, its just different, wasn't a deal breaker for us.

Leg room Transit: 41.3"
Leg room Promaster: 38.8"

When I tested the Transit I felt the entire cab area was cramped compared to the Promaster and Sprinter yet the dash controls were out of comfortable reach.

I ended up buying a Promaster over the other two. The driving position with the steering wheel is actually preferable for long drives.

75% of all motorhomes in Europe have the Ducato (Promaster) as the base vehicle.

I also don't mind at all the ProMaster's bus-like or truck-like seating position. On the other hand the Transit's front seats being so much closer to each other compared to my Econoline was disappointing.

I put a lot of miles on a 65 VW van with a "bus" steering wheel location. I survived without any ill affects. As I recall the 72 VW van was not quite as bus like and that also was not an issue.

Just like the restricted space in Transit to get from seat to cargo area. Not a big deal. Just a little training and you learn how to do it. Maybe if I was a FedEx driver it would be a problem because I had to do it hundreds of times a day.
