Has anyone purchased a VanTech roof rack with roller bar? If so, are you happy with it? Is it noisy? We need to carry 4 kayaks on the roof. We have a low roof 12 passenger 2015 Transit. Any other roof rack recommendations out there?

I have a Vantech aluminum ladder rack without the roller bar. It's ok and serves it purpose (hauling ladders). Can't comment on any other brands.

Not sure which one your looking at, but the width on mine is only the distance between the roof mounting holes. I see the width on some racks extend to the outer edges of van which is probably better in your situation.

All racks create extra noise from my experience. That, and the fact that mpg go down are the reason I only mount mine when I need them. Once they are originally installed it's just a matter of 4 bolts to put on or take off.

Not Vantech, but I bought a Rhino rack. Phoned the company and special ordered a 77" wide (Maybe it was 78"?) crossbar. Bought three of them and mounted them all. It's a good system for carrying kayaks, SUPs, etc. with lots of width and length to the rack.

Thanks. How do you reach to tie the boats down? We plan to get a ladder for the back , but wondered how to reach the front to do the tie down. Do you climb on the roof? We damaged the roof of our E-150 by climbing on it to tie down the boats.

My Vantech rack with roller arrived this week and I am hoping to finish installing it this weekend so we can go kayaking for the Fourth of July. Unfortunately, I am currently mid-assembly and am dealing with two cases of parts that are not built to spec and am modifying them to work. When I'm done I'll post a thread and pictures on the installation, and let you know how loud it whistles.

I can definitely walk on the rack... not the roof.
I had my rack custom made though because the selection of racks for Transits in Canada are not very good.
The rollers rattle a little, but will probably not be noticable after I get the van insullated and skinned.
I have to admit though....those rollers make a HUGE difference when pulling ladders and planks...or canoes/kayaks up onto a high roof!!
