Should I bother including it in my order? At first I thought it would be a good idea, but with the backup camera, I wonder what's the point. I also wonder how much grief it would cause when towing.

Can anyone offer some insight?

bicyclist,

Believe it or not, in my experience the rear sensing system picks up objects not yet viewable with the rear camera (to the sides). And if you attach a trailer and also plug in a trailer wiring plug, it deactivates the rear sensors.

They work very well together...the more you can do to avoid crashing into something, the better. Get it, you won't regret it.

Get the sensors. Sometimes during the day when the sun angle is just right it's close to impossible to see the screen.

Get the Sensors, The Backup camera is great, but having the extra level alerting is better. I don't have the towing package on mine (Added a hitch aftermarket), but there is a OFF switch to turn the alerting off is needed.

I may be alone here but I don't think they work well. My driveway has a slight grade which apparently points them at the ground and gives false readings. I am not talking about a huge hill here, just a little grade. On the flat it works fine.

I don't have the camera but if I did I would be happy without the system. Call me old school but I still believe in checking what's behind before moving.

I have the rear view camera showing in my rear view mirror (have to order base radio). When backing up the sensors show additional info that is helpful, like approximate distance and projected van travel path. As mentioned previously, the noise can be turned off (as when backing up to hook up your trailer.

Another vote for the sensors. They make it less likely you'll miss something. I've had them on a few pickup trucks and would highly recommend them.

Ford also knows how useful it is, that's why they charge $500 for a few mass produced sensors.

Mine was $500 Canadian list, eh, but I actually paid invoice whatever that was. Probably ended up close to you after exchange at about .75c.

Was $295 (MSRP) for my 2016, I'm glad that I got it. The 4" screen for back up really sucks but between the screen and audio from the sensors I feel a lot better. I park mine on a real steep grade and have had no problem with any false audio alarms. I will say though that you have to clean the snow off the sensors or it will start beeping at you when backing up.
