The 12 pin plug in the 2020 door is hot for the turn signals. 2019 has an 8 pin plug harness and I believe pre 2019 that it was a 6 pin harness. I followed the steps as from an earlier . Purchased the Ford light lens for about 12 bucks each, the sockets from amazon as suggested else where (2 for less than 10 bucks) and a pair of amber LED bulbs (about $13 at the local auto parts store) The Ford dealer helped with the final solution including providing the wire diagram and installing my parts. Thanks Nate at Damerow Ford!
I too have a 2020 with the 12 pin plug harness. I have plain power mirrors and want to upgrade to power folding and heated glass. Could you provide your VIN please and a step by step with part numbers ?

Well my turn to jump in. I just found out that my 2020 does not have heated mirrors. It was no fun in the last heavy snow. I have power mirror short arms and rear defroster, and just assumed it would be heated by default.

So now I need to put that swap on my to-do list, but unfortunately it seems that 2020 have different mirrors and they are not available on Ebay or elsewhere yet.
I have the same problem on my 2020. 12 pin connector. Did you come up with a solution ?

I’d like to add turn signals to my mirror on my 2019 T250. I found these mirrors with turn signals included on ebay. Would the turn signals work if I buy the new mirrors and just replace mine?

They should, but there are a few different plugs used in the doors depending on the year. My 2015 and 2018 are different.

Adding to the hive mind here. I am in the process of adding the turn signals to my base mirrors (electric adjust, manual everything else, no heater). I'll try not to repeat what has already been said in any detail: Remove the door panel (previous posts for youtube, etc), remove the mirror cable (it's a friction fit post mounted from the inside of the door frame, tie wrapped to the harness sheathing).

I ran the two additional wires through the harness sheathing (there's a better name, but I can't think of it at the moment). Mirror side has a couple of wraps of tape, connector side has that post; you can release the tie wrap with a tweaker/screw driver or pick. It will not likely fit again, but you can give it a wrap or 3 of tape when you reassemble it. I used some left over wire I scrounged from the early 80's (I know!). Left overs from an aircraft rewire. Stiffer than most, it fed through pretty easy; just had to work some of the bundle back out of the sharp elbow, work the wire in, then work the elbow back in and push. I suspect there are other ways to do it, I just lucked out.

It doesn't matter which wire is positive or negative. These are directionless bulbs (the T10/194/168/etc base). I ordered the 4 pack of the rubber base as noted on page 6. One is mis-assembled, so good thing I have extras.

I also ordered the lens with pre-installed LED strip lights. I thought that might be pretty good, more bulbs, etc. Except the standard screws don't fit (the lens post holes are too large in diameter). Is that a game stopper? No. I suspect I have plenty of screws (phillips probably) that would fit. And I would have to drill the base plate holes a little larger. And if the lens kit were unsatisfactory (poor brightness, unreliable, etc) then I would be hunting down the original screws and then a couple of tiny fender washers. I decided: never my mind. Ordered stock replacement (vs the 'different' amber lens) simply because the clear ones can be delivered tomorrow. Trying to get through this project, not extend it. Looking the 'ratings' over for the failed lens, I find zero comments out of 17 reviews. Hunh.

I plan on populating the mirror side of the connector. I attempted to find 'easy' socket packages, but had little success with 'fast' delivery. I'll get some eventually. I believe these pins and sockets are used in a lot of places in this vehicle (they look like those I found during a back up proximity sensor repair; though that was a couple of months ago and I don't remember exactly. The mirror connector (6 & 8 pin) is a Molex MX150 style. I have a tiny bit of patience and ordered a connector set (male & female) for a Harley of all things. I think the connector will take 18-20 ga wire. I also found a video for disassembling this style of connector. Links to both:

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07FS7QZKD?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Go to 2:31 seconds. You can (may want to) pry the core/face part all the way off (just pops off with a little more effort). That will help to align the pins. I ended up buying a cheap crimper (the kind that rolls the wire clamp tab -- don't know why I didn't buy one years ago; oh, I was raising kids and po!).

Tomorrow (meaning likely Sunday) I will complete the job.

Ok, successful install. Updates and learning experiences.

Connector: No need to remove the white cap; raised is enough. After removing the black base and the light blue rubber seal (just disconnect the base and slide both down the wires). I crimped and then soldered the sockets I used (from the previous post with the connector kit). The cheap crimper I bought doesn't give good enough grip.

I slid the wire through the 2 base pieces after the socket was attached (from the 'front'/connector body side). Then inserted it into the bottom of the connector. There are latching posts inside. The white piece slides down and divides plus locks the latching posts/catches. Pin orientation is important (on the first one I managed to get them all turned 180 degrees out; the white cover will not latch correctly due to no space for the dividers). The crimp side of the socket faces the center (that's the narrow area on the socket). The posts on the black bottom piece snap right off - break off as required (they fill the light blue rubber hole for sealing purposes).

It is not important which wire is positive or negative for the T10 style base -- it's not a directional/keyed connector. For LEDs, if it happens to not work, turn the bulb 180 degrees and reseat it.

To populate the Mirror side of the Molex MX150L connector use the following:
Molex MX150L Female Terminal for 18-22 AWG Wire, Tin Plated. I ordered from Digi-Key. qty. 10 for $7.73 shipped.
the terminals are .25 each.
The attachment is the Data sheet for the Crimp Terminals.

Hi, I have read through the posts on this thread, and would like to keep it as simple as I can. On a 2021 Transit with Power adjustable mirrors only (manual ether thing else), Can I just buy the entire replacement mirror with blinkers and 12 pin connector, and it just work? I could not find a clear cut answer to this in the thread, unless I overlooked it. Hear is an eBay listing for some mirrors. Should the mirror blinkers work just plugging them in to the 12 pin connector?

On my 2019 Cargo Transit High roof, the wiring for the blinker was complete up to the mirror connectors, plug and play if you buy the signal light mirrors.

anybody verify the question @JoeTransit asked about adding signaling mirrors to a Transit (in my case 2022) that has power mirror adjustment and nothing else?
I would not recommend ordering the eBay mirrors with blinkers. They were a very poor fit. The notch on the mirror housing did Not align with the top and bottom window gasket AT ALL like the existing OEM does. Also, the large foam/rubber piece that rests against the door under the mirror mount, was such cheap Chinese made junk, compared to OEM. Old adage definitely applies here, get what you pay for. Poor fit photo attached. eBay did give me a refund. I will not pay $450 each from the dealer for mirrors with blinkers that should be a standard feature (not an option) on this recently purchased used Transit that I have, so I will be attempting to install blinker lens, socket, bulbs soon in my existing power adjust only mirrors, like others on this thread have done. Was wanting to forgo electrical splices etc., but looks like I'll have to do this, if I want blinkers and not pay a fortune. Hope this helps others with their process.

Hi, So hoping someone can help me. I already received the correct size female molex connectors for the end of the wires, and will be using those. Thanks for the recommendation and order information.

I’m a do it yourselfer, but a bit weak on electrical knowledge, and want to make sure I’m understanding what others have written, and clarification on the ground connection. I’m going to attempt adding the side mirror turn signal lense/socket/bulb to my existing side mirror on my 2021 Transit. It of course has the 12-pin connector type.

  • 1) I think I’m understanding correctly for my 2021 Transit, that the positive turn signal wire coming from the vehicle/door side of the 12-pin wiring harness - for the left(driver side) will be blue/green, and for the right(passenger side) will be yellow/violet(purple), correct? I understand that can also use a test light with the blinker turned on to identify the positive wire to verify.

The new turn signal (lense/socket/bulb) that I’ll be adding will have a red(+) and black(-) wire.

  • 2) After routing the red & black wires through the mirror and into the door, I would then insert the newly created/crimped red wire female molex into the 12-pin connector hole (mirror side) that would line up to the corresponding pin of the vehicle/door side connector with the blue/green for the left mirror signal, and the pin of the yellow/purple wire for the right mirror signal, correct?
  • 3) With regard to the ground wire (on the vehicle/door side of the wiring harness/connector) is there only one black ground wire going into the harness? And is there another already existing corresponding black ground wire on the mirror side of the harness/connector? If so, will I have to splice the new black wire from the new turn signal into the black wire on the mirror side of the connector to share that ground, and thus no need for a female molex connector on that new black wire because there's not an open hole for ground in the harness? Hope this makes sense.
  • 4) If I will be splicing into that black ground wire before the connector, what is the best splicing type of connector to use in this situation?
Help from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help given.

I haven't explored a post-'20 van to see if anything is different, but on our earlier vans I grounded under one of the existing screws in the mirror frame itself - so far so good.

On 2019 the Ground wire is present in the door side connector. The mirror side connector C601, Pin #5, wasnt populated with a ground wire. I ran one. The wire color on the door side is Black/Green. the following pictures are from a 2017 FWM. the ground wire for the mirror is connector C601-Pin#5 it goes to Splice S603 in the wiring harness in the door, from there is goes to connector C340- pin #B11(big connector in the door jamb), which then terminates at ground point G307 inside the A piller, the factory wiring manual is garbled on some of the images, Probe the door side connector with a DVM for continuity with chassis ground, look for a Black/green wire.

I am in the middle of retrofitting signals and heated mirrors onto my 2020 van with the 12 pin connector. Here is the passenger side female molex connector with my added wires. Red and black are the signal and blue and yellow are the heated defrost. View attachment 183087
Thanks for your post last year, TheMorgan. Attempting this myself now on my 2021 and wanted to ask on your passenger side photo, looks like maybe the black ground wire from the new turn signal went into an unpopulated pin socket on the mirror side of the connector, correct? And both the red and black wires went into the last two pin holes/sockets? Was the corresponding ground wire on the door/vehicle side of the connector Black and Green, or what? Was it the same on the driver side? Thank You.
