I'm hoping for some words of wisdom on replacing the rear quarter panel. After trusting the backup cam to much, I backed straight in to a tree. And the body shops are giving me 7k quotes. My plan is to drill out the spot weld, and pull off the old panel. And replace it with a new one, that I will fix in with 3M body panel adhesive. I'm also thinking of having a shop do some tack welds along the seams. Any one have any experience with this? My main worry is if the 3M body panel adhesive is enough. And how to get at the spot welds inside the column that connect the side panel to the quarter panel.

The rear door frame is made of Boron Steel, You are not suppose to weld it because it weakens the Boron steel.
The factory uses a spot welder to attach things to boron steel because it heats only a small area of the boron steel.

Did you end up replacing this?

I have the same problem and for the cheap cost of the replacement piece I’d like to do it myself.

If you did, do you have any photos/videos?

Thanks!
