Big job, Both seat pedestals and the front dash has to be removed. You could cut it loose from the dash support but then it would be just a hack job and not look nice.

The vinyl or the metal?

Vinyl of course, Without the steel support the dash might be greatly weakened.

This is the only photo that I know of on the forum showing the steel dash support.

Now that I look at the photo again it looks like the metal dash support can be disassembled without much hassle, The vinyl flooring may be easier to remove then I first thought.
