Hey everyone, I received a new Ford remote start (cm5z-19g364-b.) Does anyone know where I can find some installation instructions? Any help would be appreciated.

I'd like to see them too! Did you receive operating instructions for it?
I'm curious how long it will run on remote start before shutting down.

Thanks- that is the owner's manual- it did answer one question I had and that is run time- 15mins which is not enough for my application.
Does anyone know if the "Quick Stop" function is also only 15 minutes?

What I need this for is to leave the van running, locked, with heat or AC going, for up to 1 hour. We travel with 2 dogs so that is why that is needed, especially the AC.
I made my own system to do this on our other 2 vehicles and it works great, but I'm reluctant to go poking around on a CANbus vehicle for fear of making an expensive mistake.

I also run a 2 way radio system when doing this- basically a GMRS radio that is VOX operated- I have a speaking thermometer that goes into alarm if temp goes above a preset value, keying the radio and also picks up dog barking indicating something may be going on.
This is picked up by another radio I carry.

We had a very disturbing incident a few years back where a woman was tapping on our truck window greatly upsetting the dogs- total idiot.
When we ran out to investigate she explained she just wanted to show her kid, which she was holding, what American dogs (she was Asian) looked like.
HOLY CRAP- I explained to her in NO uncertain terms you DO NOT approach someone else's vehicle and especially don't go tapping on their windows or touching their car.
She was very lucky the dogs didn't break the glass and turn her into hamburger!

On page 27 of the "2015 Transit Major Product Features" publication: Engine can be programed to run for 5,10 or 15 minute intervals. As delivered mine runs for 10 minutes.

My use will be to warm the van in the morning. I sleep with van interior cold and use a 12 volt heating pad to stay warm. Will push button to start engine while still in bed. The heating controls must be set the night before. 10 minutes is also too short for my application but 15 minutes would work. Local Ford dealer had no clue how to adjust it.

Expect to avoid the need for a separate heating system.

Thanks for this information, it answers questions I was eventually going to have to ask! I ordered the RS for two main reasons, Ortons morning warm up routine, and a quick way to activate my Inverter (hopefully via Upfitter switch(s)) to use 110v items for 5-15 minutes.

For those of us without skillz to install it ourselves--would a car audio installer be able to do this or should I take it to ford ($$)?

I need a remote start to save my having to climb in the drivers seat, start the van, get out, walk around to the slider, open then deploy the wheelchair ramp. One day I'll also get a automatic slider door opener but until then, baby steps....

I found it quite easy to install. It was mostly plug and play, but had five wire connections at the bcm. I have some experience in mobile electronics. The instructions from dealer were limited in programming it. A lot of dash disassembly is required. My transit 350HD has the the diesel in it and there's a program setting for that.

I also have the diesel and was most concerned about it. I found the exact part number you quoted for under $200 which is over $250 less than the dealer wants but I was unsure about installing it myself. I have extensive auto electric knowledge, mostly communications gear.

Remote Start Adventures

The pocket start.

In the middle of a cabinet install, my transit beeped, locked, and did the auto-start routine. Needless to say I got quite a start! Sure enough, the key and remote fob were in my pocket and must have activated whilst bending around.

The Remote Start auto-lock gotcha.

Whilst demonstrating the RS to a friend, while all the doors were open, I forgot that the auto-lock activates as part of the RS sequence. Ten mins later, I found myself locked out. The keys were on the galley counter. Thank goodness for the door keypad and a memorized code.

Apologies for bringing up an old thread.

I am trying to install a factory remote start and need to know where the connections are that are referenced in the install instruction.

I can't seem to find them online.

Thanks

BTW... I bought the $177 CD. Don't bother just general info. Their description of it is way more than misleading.

Save the $$... mine is for sale... ugh.

Well I went through many thoughts on this or aftermarket units and finally installed this, factory rmst.

I had taken apart the interior a few times to see what I was getting into. That was easy.

Determining what wire is what was the biggest hurdle!! Some of this came from other other install instructions.

It took me about 5 hours, I am OCD and this should be factored in.

The programming instructions are poor. I got to a point where it attempted a remote start, but no start. Finally found an online video about reprogramming after battery replacement and that did it!!
