All,

Got a RECALL notice in the mail today...so you guys be on the lookout.

Customer Satisfaction Program 15B39

" On your vehicle, insufficient sealing in certain areas of the engine compartment may allow undesired water entry into the engine compartment directly over powertrain components. This can lead to symptoms including difficulty starting, misfires, or illuimination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp(MIL).

In the interest of customer satisfaction, Ford Motor Company has authorized the dealer to install water management measures on your vehicle free of charge.."

So....will this solve the air filter problem? The PCM wiring harness on the driver's side hood that get drenched in water or both. Hmmmm.

Yeah, I'm following, too. Seems like this is so fresh no one has figured out what it is. Alarmist thinks it's just a repeat of the old one...you got a funnel, you get a gutter.

Hey man...maybe this is it! It's NEW AIR BOX time!!!

Ahhh, but skepticism abounds....

Let me assure you, I'm being quite facetious....ya know? They'll slap a rubber over the thing before forking over for a new one.

Hey, there's a trick...you know those hair bag things the old ladies wear over their heads an the salon? Hmmm...kinda like a poor man's TURD.

But yeah...it smells like the gutter fix for all those that bought before June of last year.

I got this notice in the mail this past weekend as well. I have an appointment scheduled for next Monday for an inspection. This one must be hot off the presses. Note, I have a T350 HD Ecoboost. Not sure if the recall applies to all, or some....

I assumed Ford would have to eventually address the problem so only wrapped the air box with a plastic garbage bag and wrapped the electrical connections on the driver's side.

Will get the recall done and then evaluate any other changes. Definitely like the idea of a larger diameter drain with hose directly straight down and not into the fender well.

Now we get to start the modifications again with the new parts.

I am waiting for a aftermarket intake filter that eliminates the Ford design. Even with the redesign my garbage bag will remain to cover the wrong design flange.

My 2016 T150 has not shown any water in the engine compartment and not suffered any of the problems that others have had. Both sides of the hood have the divertor channels, the air intake is alway dry. I am in Washington State and have had torential down poors recently and there has not been a drop of water inside the vehicle. Vehicle was built in Sept 2015 and I believe that Ford must have corrected all the previous problems.

I had the Transit at the dealer just the week before last and specifically asked them to check if there was a TSB or anything on the filter issue, and they said no. Now when I plug my VIN into the Etis page, it gives this recall.

Once again. the forum knows more than the dealer I guess. If I was paid to sell or service Ford vehicles all day every day I guess I would not endeavor to learn as much about them? :s

I had 15B39 recall done yesterday and today 3.7L. A pair of plastic water deflectors replaced the original drain hoses and they installed a new air cleaner assembly that looks nothing like the original..

Great news,

Proves that persistent complaints work.

Maybe there should be a complaint thread just for things you want to change. Seems to be a few common themes.

Whoa, that's new. Up to now, all I had heard about was a less restrictive application of the original TSB. With a new air box in the picture, why have we not all received recall notices? I figured I wouldn't get one, just because I had already had the TSB done.
